If Toyota doesn't like what they say, they can get blacklisted and no longer receive press loaners or get invited to those events that they all get invited to. Pretty sure Ben Hardy said he was blacklisted so he doesn't get invited anymore.

I also think Tim over at Pickup Trucks and SUV talk said he doesn't look at any owner forums and only looks at NHSTA and CarComplaints.com. Although perhaps posing on his new forum maybe you could get a response there.

I wonder if the HV vs. Non-HV numbers coincide with the production numbers of, lets say 3 Non to 1 HV, being produced?

But only 44 reported on the list vs. the amount of "registered owners" on here and how many actively gave that info, seems like a very, very low number.

Oh of course. If you can take action to help prevent a possible issue. Education is the key.

Yeah the low number doesn't concern me as much as them all having the same type of failure (Spun bearing)

I've been eagerly waiting to see the data, thanks so much compiling this! @ryanwgregg - just to clarify, is the average mileage calculated at the end reported in km? I see that the column itself requests the input in km, but recall in other threads the mileage referred to in miles.

No. Miles, not KM. If someone input KM, I converted it to Miles.

Tim is an ass kisser, that interview he did with Toyota engineer inside of the special edition 1794 truck, he was trying so so hard to ask softball questions and not to offend the Toyota guy accidentally. Hey... If they don't like him all of sudden, he may loose his proveleges and it'll hurt his YouTube career.

I'm sort of questioning the Break-in oil change replies.

Many of respondents change their oil at 10k miles... Do you really think they'll go out of their way to do Breakin oil change and pay for it at 1k miles?

They probably didn't even understand what Breakin oil change was

The data is good, but even I know that it isn't complete without looking at any records that the owner has...

I know that the failure at 69,000 is currently being reviewed by Toyota and they asked for receipts for all maintenance items performed outside of a Toyota dealer...

I believe this particular owner went to an oil change place, so the place has the record...

While going to the dealer can be a hassle, the fact that Toyota can look at the service records without me having to provide anything is worth it in a situation like this...

^ I usually do my own oil changes but for now (with my tundra) I go to an oil change place and have them do it. I bring my own OEM filter for them to use. My place reports to carfax, and I keep a paper, and digital copy of the receipt.

Take a photo of the receipt with your phone and email to yourself with easy to find email subject line eg: 012524 100k miles Tundra 2022 oil change. You definitely need to keep receipts as proof for oil changes

I don’t need to keep my records. Gave Toyota privilege to monitor my truck. They know what type of gas I use. How fast I drive. When I reset my oil schedule

The buzz at the dealership is that they know these failures are happening and have seen a decline in the interest of the Gen 3 Tundra. They are seeing more interest in the previous generations.

They are short on hybrid's but the gassers are still abundant and not moving.

There are other factors that can be affecting this slow down like increased prices and interest rates. I am sure that the engine issue is a factor as well.

It’s a game. Who release a recall and after almost a year still don’t have a fix. When my truck hits 65k like I said. If there’s no fix I’m trading it in. Toyota you win.

I dont trust anything any dealer says.

they never admit to anything wrong (unless it’s your trade).

I’ll bet most people have no idea about the tundra engine issues. People don’t deep dive. It explains how Nissan still sells cars with bad CVT’s.

Ok, but if something happens to your truck, and they'll ask you to provide oil change receipts then it'll be a problem for you
