    Good morning everyone.

    What's the weekend plans? We don't have much planned. Probably stay close to the house.

    Spent yesterday at my mom's place cleaning up an online targeted mess that my mom created. She opened a email and it was pretty convincing she owed some money to a business she actually does purchase items from (phishing). Well she then proceeded to call the number on the website and then clicked on the dispute link (fake PayPal account). The person got her so confused on what to do he offered to help her out and then shared her screen. Well it was all over from there. Luckily she stores no passwords on her one device and does absolutely no online banking. Her stubbornness to not do any online banking saved her. I wiped her phone, installed new sims card, cancelled credit cards, locked her credit and bank accounts. Started her a new email and several other accounts. She felt really bad, but it was a learning experience for her. I told her these people are in the business of draining accounts and business is booming.

    Be proactive with your parents/family about these online predators.

    Man, I'm sorry your mom went through that. But I'm glad you got her taken care of. Those scammers are very good and very tricky. They almost got me. Very close to giving them access to my computer. I do not do online banking there either. But yeah, letterhead looked as legit as the real thing and I learned a very good lesson.

    I just got one of those yesterday on my work phone. We don't have toll roads in AZ, and I work for the state. So, they tried a scam text to a state gov. phone about a unpaid state charge that doesn't exist in the state.
