    Can you go to traffic court and get the charges reduced? Most of the time here if you go to court it will be reduced to a non-moving violation with point reduction. Fine is still the same (of course) but at least it doesn't stay on your record and screw up insurance rates.
    Now for careless/wreck less/dui/accidents/exabition of speed or racing...etc the points stay and so do the fines. Another big one in CO is not moving over when LEO's have their lights on. Colorado just passed a law that if anyone is on the side of the road with flashers on the other drivers better reduce speed significantly or move over. This law is to help with officer collisions. This happens way too much here.
