    So I've got some friends who are nearing retirement and have done fairly well. They are really good people and I think they deserve all the good they have received. But they invited my wife and me to their new beach house last night. I think they bought it from the creators of "gaudy!" I can't tell them what I really think so I'm telling y'all! On one hand, the bathtub in the master bath originally cost $16k, but the blinds are cheap string pulls, and the windows are as basic as you can find! The original owners added new sections to the house as they had more kids, or grandkids, whatever, so the layout of the house is strange, to say the least. One of the three garage doors opens to a narrow hallway next to one of the bedrooms that was added. Why not just wall in the garage door?!?!? Oh, to have so much money you can just throw it into such gaudiness! I still don't think i would do that!

    That's the thing. They didn't build this house. I've been in two houses they've built over the years and they have really well designed floor plans with great functionality. I think this kind of fell into their laps and they snapped it up without thinking what their money could buy if they looked around.

    I do agree with your second sentiment though. I still enjoy their company and will be going back at some point.
