How do you like your tonneau cover? I'm interested in buying one, but for the cost want to make sure it's really what I want. TIA!

I am interested to see a photo of the tailgate of a MGM with the accessory black letters and chrome letters installed. If your Tundra has this could you share a photo. Thanks.

Elevate rack is heavy-duty and I'm sure works for the needs of many. If you have t-slot rails, the Yakima would also work with the t-slot kit.

Elevate is a heavy rack - too heavy for me to be able to take on and off when I need to a few times a year at least not without likely beating up my truck in the process. Adjustability isn't great - there are only a few different height positions that are fixed. Adjusting the height is a pain also given the weight. Aesthetically I wasn't a big fan either.

Yakima is just a better-designed rack IMO, at least for my uses. It's lightweight yet still strong, the height can be adjusted anywhere within the height range. The bars and towers all have markings on them so you can easily get things even without measuring. I also like the rack angles in toward the cab which better follows the lines of the cab for a more seamless fit. Also, the side bars on the Yakima (add on) rest higher on the towers. With the Elevate rack, the side bars attached to the same point as the cross bar towers - so if I had the elevate in the lowest position, I lost the ability to reach in the bed due to the side bar blocking.

I also have a lot of Thule and Yakima mounts - the kind that have brackets that go around the crossbars. The crossbars on the Elevate are so big, they really aren't designed to use mounts that aren't t-slot mounted. I tried to adapt some of mine, but ended up needing ridiculously long bolts to cover the size of those bars.

Benefit of the Elevate is certainly with a trifold or roll-up cover. Since they mount at a 90 degree angle, you can easily use this type of cover. I have a Retrax Pro so mine is retractable and I did not need this feature of the Elevate.

My overall uses for a rack are largely for kayaks, mountain bikes, and my raft. I like to keep the bars just below cab height unless I'll be using my raft, in which case, I raise them over the cab height. I also will carry ladders and lumber when needed, and will also raise it as needed in those situations

Thanks for the well detailed response.

I have a trifold tonneau cover, and the racks would mainly be to support my fishing kayak, which is around ~120lbs.

Elevate is probably your best bet. It's relatively inexpensive in comparison and works perfect for tri-fold covers

2025 Platinum 6.5’ bed, running boards. Still less than 250 miles on it.

We needed a smoother riding truck than our Tacoma and more cargo capacity for carrying pellets for use in the pellet stove. Plus a 4x8 piece of plywood will fit better. Loved the Taco, love the Tundra so far. And we are still figuring out all the bells & whistles.

    Cheers.:)

Do you have the peel-n-stik lettering installed on the tailgate? What color is the lettering?

@PGW85706 here's a picture of the tailgate with the lettering you were looking for. Not the best light, but hopefully this helps.

Thanks for sharing. Looks good. What color is the lettering....flat black? gloss black? matching MGM? Is it a Toyota installed accessory? I am studying the TufSkinz version and there are some good color choices. I don't like to stray too far from the OE look.

I’d say flat black. I like it but have heard that the TuffSkinz are a quality product.

New to Tundra forums. Was on Tacomaworld forums for over 20 years. Had an 04 Tacoma till 2013 and then had a 2012 Tacoma 4x4 Trd Sport till 1/18/25. Got a hell of a deal on my 2025 Limited 4x4 with under 5300 miles. Located just outside of New Orleans, LA. Looking forward to getting to meet some of y’all.

Actually its just an ebay knock off that I got for half the price of what most are asking for. Solid made out of metal and has held up really well on all my once a month overland trips.

That’s an interesting looking topper, and very functional from your pictures. Sometimes the form-fitting ones can look a bit stale to me.
