A 21 platinum is around 54-55k while a 22 non hybrid platinum is around 66-67k nicely loaded. I would say that a pretty decent increase. Also what alot of people are not mentioning is that these prices are on a non hybrid, so let’s add another 3k, now we have a 70k platinum. I’m not sure how people are seeing only a 5k increase. Not only have the base prices gone up, all the options have gone up also. For a similarly equipped limited someone will pay over 10k for a 22. Best part is Toyota played this beautifully, push out the lower priced truck first and slowly transition the hybrid so people don’t get sticker shock. I will give them credit, they have this down pretty well.

Platinum 4x4 CrewMax base MSRP went from $51,945 to $59,990 for an increase of $8,045 (the most of any trim). The only package that doesn’t come standard on Platinum is the Advanced Package with Air Ride and HUD ($1,645), making total MSRP $61,635. Just >$5k less than your claim.

Again I’m not talking about base prices here, if I want to add option and accessories that cost a lot more than previous gen it’s gonna increase the price by almost 10k. People are focusing on the base prices, people don’t buy base trucks. A well optioned 21 platinum with a couple extra accessories costs 56k, that same 22 platinum is around 67-68. I just compared them, you absolutely right if one is looking at the base prices the increase is not as much but people are gonna look at the overall price with options and accessories. Also this is not even the hybrid, that adds minimum 3k, now your in the 70k plus. Dealers will not stock 50k sr5, no money in that, they will only stock fully optioned trucks regardless of trim.

Would you mind sharing how a loaded Platinum is at $68k, because I clearly just laid out the pricing on it. Dealer options do not count, this is strictly from the factory.

I found a dealer that agreed to take my order with a $500 deposit and no markup. (MSRP)
All the dealers in my area wanted 5-10k above. I will take a 90 minute flight and 5 hour drive home. SF to LA and back.
I was able to order exactly what I wanted. this is not dealer allocation.

I think someone just posted an example of a 66k platinum, I’m guessing it’s not hard to add a few other options like tonneau cover to take this well over 68k. I think the video that OP shared provided an example of a 68k truck. Again this is not even the hybrid, it’s like buying a 75k Audi Q7 and getting the 2.0 liter instead of the v6. Once you add the hybrid it will certainly cost over 70k, if I had to guess it’s gonna be around 72-73k for pro. So not only have the initial cost of the base truck gone up, the costs of all the options have gone up also. Regardless of how you look at this, it’s a sticker shock for anyone that has purchased a tundra the last 10 years for a lot less. I agree this does not compare to some of the crazy prices seen at ford or Chevy, but it’s still a big increase.

A big increase in price like this that is around 20% higher for some models, and that is with the base engine, so probably a 25% increase or more with the new top powertrain; without a commensurate increase in capability.

What is this increase in price buying you? A 20% increase in power? Nope. How about a 20% increase in payload? Nope. Maybe a 20% increase in towing? Again nope. Maybe a 20% increase in fuel economy? Close at least, but at up to $8,000-$12,000 more (assuming the hybrid costs $4K) that is a hell of a lot of gasoline you could buy instead and go with a 2021, or better yet keep your current truck.

I'm not seeing a good story for value vs the money spent here. Not at all. The 2007 Tundra brought the most power, torque, and capability to the 1/2 ton market when it was released, and did it for about the same $$$ as the competition. Now 15 years later Toyota is giving us a new Tundra that is basically an also ran in the capabilities department, with less features content than the competition for the same money as the competition. That is simply not compelling.

You are absolutely right in all those areas, I don’t see the reason to make a jump either, the hybrid might sweeten the deal but I just don’t see it.

Same. Been paid off for 10 years now. I can afford to rebuild the whole truck if I want to and still not be compelled to buy a new one. As it is $3K worth of scheduled maintenance, repairs, and some TLC will keep mine on the road for another 10 years if I choose.

I was excited about a new TRD Pro around $5K more than the current truck, because I can see the value there. Maybe Toyota will hold the line on the TRD Pro and it won’t be $65-$70K, but at this rate I suspect it will be and I don’t see that much value to justify the price tag.

Nah, I wanted to like this truck. I have been driving the same Tundra now for 15 years. I am so ready for a new truck, but the pricing in this new Tundra combined with this stupid market means I’m not in the market, at least most likely not.

All of us have to decide what to spend our money on. I’m leaning towards keeping my $65-$70K because I like it more than a new TRD Pro. Below $65K I might like the TRD Pro more than that quantity of money, around $55-$60K I most assuredly value a new TRD Pro more than that amount of money.

You're the first person I've seen to be able to order. When does it come in?

Also hope they don't do what other brands did. Manufacturers opened orders up to customer only .So dealers used customers to order, hiked the price on arrival and sold to highest bidder.

Semi need. Now you get the story. Had my old diesel at the dealership for exhaust related codes. Was loaned a newer one with hud. After a week using it, I felt reckless not having it. Constantly taking my eyes off the road and such. On a side note, the car without hud is for sale. 2014 A6 tdi 75k miles.

Pick up my 2021 this week, grabbed it while I could. There is no inventory local to me as of this week. I'll take a look at the Gen 4, maybe.

I spent $2k to get winter tires and wheels for my truck last year. If that breaks you, maybe you shouldn't be driving a $50k vehicle that gets 13 mpg.

The pro will probably be a better indicator of the price increase, since it pretty much only came one way fully loaded without any additional packages offered. Looks to be the same for 22. No options available for it. Unlike the other trims where you can mix and match options and come up with different prices.
I really don’t know how they justify the pro costing more that the plat and 1794. It just has a set of good shocks, it’s not like it has long travel susp like the raptor/ Tex.
Probably the closest thing to compare to the pro right now would be the new zr2 which has dssv shocks but also locking rear and front diffs. ( the pro only has rear lock) No pricing on the zr2 yet either. The at4x is 75k but it has a lot more features, like super cruise etc.
