I really wish they would have given a blue option on the 2022.. and no I don’t consider blueprint to be blue. It’s more a purple

Totally agree. I've had the truck for almost 2 years, and I *still* constantly get compliments on the color. :)

So, seeing on Toyota’s website now that the specs are all up. Including the TRD Pro specs although pricing is still “Coming Soon”.
In many videos of the unveiled TRD Pro, there are some contradictory features or options.
For example, the button panel on the left of the steering column where you can turn on the light bar and heated steering wheel, there’s obviously a button for the heated steering wheel. Now, why is Toyota taking that feature away from the TRD Pro in production according to the spec options on their website? When you compare the Limited, 1794 and TRD Pro.. you can see there are many options that are not available now but were on the prototype. Another example is the heated and ventilated rear seats which are now seemingly only available on the Platinum and 1794. I would also love to have the option (even if only installed by the dealer and not from factory) for the retractable running boards and tailgate step on the TRD Pro. Only thing I remember them saying wasn’t going to be available on the TRD Pro was pretty much the auto sensing wipers and Heads Up Display. The heated steering wheel is minor but it’s something that’s so simple to add into an option for the Pro model.. I mean I drive a 2017 Silverado LTZ and it has a heated steering wheel. Like, come on Toyota, we want the option to add almost anything we want on these top 3 tier models of the Tundra. Bed options could be limited but for the electrical component availability, just make them all interchangeable and optional https://www.toyota.com/tundra/2022/features/

Maybe to keep the price close to the other top trims. To me that’s a good thing because I could care less about that stuff and if it if lowers the price a little by not having it, I’m all for it.

    Stock for now

I guess I hadn't realized it before, but the Limited w/ TRD Offroad gets a "honey comb grill" instead of the regular limited "horizontal bars"?

Older gen has bigger heavier tires, not a good comparison. They need to put a stock set of tires on the older gen and then run them for a more comparable test, same with the tug of war they did.

Anyone else pretty disappointed in this?
I imagine it might improve very slightly with break in, but 18.6 is 19% worse than 22 EPA highway. That is quite a ways off. I have found EPA 13/17 to be spot on for my 2015 Tundra, my wife’s 18 Gx460 and every other truck back to my 99 Dodge Ram 4WD 5.7 (my 2015 tundra just barely improves on that mpg, lol)

I will note one exception, I have found Ford’s F150 eco boost to be significantly worse than EPA mileage according to multiple friends and personal experience taking one TX to CO and back. 17 King Ranch, I got 16.5 mpg. Maybe Toyota just can’t beat em and joined em?

If 18.6 is really true highway. Then combined with smaller 33 gallon fuel tank they have also knocked about 30 miles off the range by my math vs 38 gallon tank at epa 17. In my experience I can usually get closer to 17.8 on highway so that is closer to 70 mile range reduction. I think that is significant.

I think some others have said hybrid should help, but I’m not sure it will help much on the highway. City yes definitely , but I don’t think much for for extended 70 mph highway driving, in fact actually more weight.

Overall love the truck and hope in real world they do better. Maybe TFL has an issue with theirs. If not , not a deal killer for me, will still buy. Just hate it when “upgrades” turn out to be more hype than substance. This would be very unlike Toyota.

I have buddies with the ecoboost that report the same, these v6 boosted motors will get better mpg when you stay out of boost. If your real world driving these or using it like a truck they usually get worse because your in boost more. I think tfl ran the ecoboost against the ram hemi v8 up the ike and the v8 netted better mpg up the mountain then the ecoboost.

I've seen the same thing towing. I tend to get about 13 or so MPG towing; my F150 got about the same. The Ecoboost towed a bit faster and easier, but they also got like 10-11MPG. Not a huge difference, but the thing is that tons of people buy expecting *everything* to be better. It might be, but rarely all at the same time.

I'm 6'3" so take my feedback with a grain of salt. But i have owned a 21 TRD Pro just recently and now have an F150 Lariat so I can compare against those at least. One thing I'll add is I'm going to dive into the settings and features, I want to see if the ambient lighting is adjustable and some other nuances.

I'm 6'3" as well and I want to know if you have to fold in half to get in and out like ours now

and I doubt you could tell, but can you just take off the stash surround and color match it or does the entire damn grill have to go

no, brand new truck, driving 75 mph up hill. 18.6 is pretty good. If you need to feel better there’s videos you can watch of guys getting 21-22 highway.

    Just left and some thoughts.

rear room is very tight. There is a cavity that my head could get too but if I moved a half inch forward or left or right I’m hitting the roofline with the pano.

rear window is smaller than the previous gen. I don’t know what it’s is but almost seems gimmicky.

There are not a lot of vehicle customization options in the menu and settings. Ambient lighting can’t change color. Brightness adjusts with cluster and other brightness settings.

Front head room is good but I had to put the seat all the way to the ground. The seats are much shorter than previous gen but they are wider. Seat back is much shorter too. Lumbar is adjustable up and down but even all the way off and down there was a hard spot in the lower back I didn’t like. Platinums snd 1794 get the thigh extension and it’s a lifesaver. If you’re tall you’ll need to get that option or else it’s not going to be supportive.

Visibility is good. Good out of sides and front a pillar. Rear window is smaller and seats block the view more so using the digital rear view is a whole lot better and almost a must.

Front end is long as shit and it can all be found between front bumper and radiator. There’s like a foot of space.

sequential turn signals are awesome and the headlights are great.

interior lighting is pretty dim. Nothing directly overhead of the console so it’s dark in there.

interior build quality while it’s nicer it’s just kind of barely better than the previous gen. I still see the easily scratched plastic being used especially where that center console half door is. Which itself is pretty flimsy.

There were a lot of people so I may not have found it but unlike some other vehicles I couldn’t cycle through the different camera views like front only, rear only, etc. I’m sure if you’re pulling up to something you could but I couldn’t find it. I also think the off road PVM are capable but platinum can’t get that option.

The blackened trim isn’t bad but I don’t like the black around the fender wells and tailgate area. It’s kind of weird but that’s personal preference.

I’m driving back home so I might think of more

The seat comfort and interior space are starting to become a theme, disappointing. looks like Tgna platform has not done us well in that aspect. The sequential turns are pretty cool and something different from other trucks. One of those youtube channel guys who bought one also showed concern over that console area your talking about, said it felt very cheap.

Did you look underneath the truck? Hows the access to the oil filter?

Also the stitching is blue and it’s on every panel and the seat perforations are blue.

F150 Tremor 402a, go look at those and it’s about the same except blue instead of orange.

I have a friend that makes a 600 mile round trip once a week (DFW to Midland TX, flat and straight) He traded his 5.0 V8 F150 for an F150 Ecoboost and was very disappointed in real world highway MPG going 75 mph. His 5.0 was 2+MPG better. Was pretty dissapointed as that is not a small price upgrade.

Your sentiments are on par with TFLs honest opinions of the truck so far. Perceived reliability aside, it's underwhelming.
