Front shrunk an inch. Biggest shrinks are rear head room (hybrid even more) and rear shoulder room

That sounds great. My location doesn’t have that high of a package. Glad to hear it’s a thing

I have a deposit down as well, hoping for the exact same configuration but haven't seen one yet. Crossing my fingers. If I'm spending $60k on a truck I want to get exactly what I want.

Why is the build tool tied to inventory. Has to be the dumbest concept I've seen

It's a damned if you do, damned if you don't for Toyota on that one. There is the inventory linked issue that causes frustration, and I get that. The other option would be full range builders that are going show you everything you can't have, and people would complain that they can't get what they want. I agree that the full builder would have been preferable, but I'm also not going to buy one, so what I think doesn't count for much.

If the reports that Tundra is getting a high priority from Toyota as far as resource allocations and they may build 200,000 units in the first year, then it shouldn't be an issue. Time will tell if that is true or not.

In Canada, ordering is easy because there are no packages or factory options, you get what you get.

It's just annoying that if there's not inventory you can't even build it to see it. Or build something to hand to your dealer to match for incoming allocations.

Even when my folks were buying their 1986 Camry, Toyota didn't offer custom builds to order. The dealers just got you as close as they could.

I believe the hybrid version doesn't make headroom worse, it just takes up the storage space that's on the non-hybrid models

I think he just meant that the new tucks lost head room over the 2.5 design. Not that the Hybrid lost more than the non.

No his statement made it sound like less headroom in the hybrid, which is simply not true.

Oops! I missed the parenthesis. Yeah, as far as I know the hybrid internal dimensions are the same.

Pretty sure the rear headroom was lost because of panoramic roof vs older gen.

That would make sense. Sunroofs/moonroofs have always eaten some headroom.

Multiple reviewers said the rear seats with hybrid batteries sit taller in cab than non hybrid models.

could just be a perception thing.

Wonder why the TFL truck was only going about 500 miles on a single tank? If he averaged ~18 mpg it should have been well above that. Limited comes standard with 32.2 gallon tank.

The tank is still long, just like on the 2.5 gen. I would guess it's got a similarly conservative gauge to prevent people who run low from killing the truck on an incline. I'd also bet we'll be hearing more rants and rails about how there's "unusable" fuel left, or that Toyota is shady once people start filling up and can't fit the full capacity.

Probably because the tanks show empty well before using all 32 gallons.

2.5 gen tank had 6 gallons left in it and read empty.

Fwiw Chuck Hutton in Memphis, TN is doing $3k markup across the board. Don't give them your business.

The funny thing is that there are plenty of other dealers in Memphis not doing markups because I've been in communication with all of them. I also had to explain to the salesman at Chuck Hutton that he couldn't simply custom order the exact truck I'm looking for. He kept saying he could order it today if I just came in this afternoon and put down a deposit. It's embarrassing when a customer knows more about the process of buying a Toyota better than a worker getting paid to know it.

Not just buying process, I tend to research the hell out of everything and more often than not when I go into test drive a vehicle I wind up telling the sales person all the specs and features of the vehicle and how they work.

I'm the exact same way. Rarely do I make a big purchase and I know less about the product than the person selling it to me. My girlfriend hates it because she says it makes me come off as a smartass, but oh well lol. I'm not spending $60k on a truck that I haven't researched every single detail about.
