Fuck if I know. Full-time 4HI is a no-brainer to compete with domestics, front recovery hooks is a no-brainer. But here we are.

I've done one survey and it was on "what information about the 2022 do you want to see in the brochure?"

They didn't send you one after your 2020 purchase? Did you buy it new?

Yeah, that's odd. I've bought 3 new Toyotas and I believe I was sent one for each, usually 3-6 months after purchase. The dealers make a big deal about it because if they don't get a perfect score Toyota comes down hard on them.

I am on a ton of Toyota surveys- they email them to me almost weekly. A few surveys ago was tundra based and asking about gas and EV gauges- wonder who will have a powerboost style EV first, the capstone or Tacoma

Sweers is a soulless shit for brains non truck person. He should be limited to Corolla stuff. Or send him to Nissan to put the final nail in their coffin.

He actually is a truck person. Even stated he prefers diesels but doesn’t want to deal with the restrictions and certification process in the US.

Sweers is actually a truck person with a lot of truck building and off-road experience. His personal truck is a 2.5 gen Tundra with fairly good build sheet.

I'm afraid of the complexity. But Toyota has Land Cruisers with TTV8 diesels for many years so they know the details for longevity. I'm not a fan of a crammed engine bay with hoses and tubing galore.

Very useful when you need them.

I slid off my drive a few years ago during a heavy snow storm. The truck was leaning off the drive with the left side tires still on the drive and the right side down in the ditch. The only was to recover was to pull the truck from the front because there was a hill behind the truck and impossible to pull up the hill. Without the front tow hooks it would have been a pain in the a$$ to try and dig under the truck and remove the snow to try a find a good location to pull from.

Do you have recovery gear? If not, the hooks to attach it to is moot already. I'm wondering how many of the people who are angry about hooks have anything to hook into...

The guys out in CO and CA off-roading a lot will, but the other 99.99% of owners likely not.

my personal story- I have always wanted a winch and at least 2-5 times a year it would have been super helpful over the past 14 years. 3 years ago I finally put one on my truck and guess how many times I have used it???

ONCE and it was to pull up Holly bushes on my property that I didn’t want to mess with digging up.

The tow hooks are mainly used by tow truck operators to provide a secure and safe way to recover a vehicle.

2008 CrewMAx, never used tow hooks but ended up spending $150 to have them powder coated because they were rusted and pitted.

Doesn’t he know he only has 300lbs of available payload left after that build???

Edit: 350lbs…looks like he still has the factory splash shield under there

I live in NY and have used tow hooks multiple times. They are also considered required gear when I drive on the beach (along with tow strap, jack boards, air compressor, etc.)

interesting that the regular battery is inside the cab under the seat.

most of my toyota batteries have leaked, that would be a mess inside there

I don't know any actual evidence of the risk with these items being in the cab but it just seems like a bad idea.
