That’s not true many had tested in the low 6’s on a pre production truck in less then ideal conditions. Give official 0-60 some time

An alternative with rear coils it's easy to add Firestone airbags, I think they'll be available fast. You're looking at maybe $120 for parts and $200 for a shop to install. Done it on 4Runners with the same multilink, coils, solid axle rear suspension.

Damn I was really getting interested in the new Tundra but I can't configure an ideal trim.

Platinum can't get crawl mode, off road pkg, downhill assist, rear locker, MTV.

Limited doesn't have memory seats, no digital cluster, no hud option, no ambient lighting and manual tilt steering wheel.

TRD Pro- no HUD, no trailer backup assist, no rear review mirror camera, no memory seats.

this is a huge bummer, its what I wanted. non hybrid platinum blueprint

but between the 5 extra inches in size and the over 8K more price increase, which is really like 10-12K more when you add in all options compared to the older one if you can find a dealer without ADM, its just not looking great at the moment.

Im going to look harder at the new standard AT4 (not the x) with the 6.2 V8 when it come out as well.

but Im thinking the best move for most people who want a new tundra is to wait until the end of 2022 when you can choose from the 2022 and the 2023 models (sept-dec). You can also see what the hybrid does and how much it costs.

the market will likely be a little better by then, supply will likely be up, etc. That is unless you have to be the first one to have one of these things.

No matter how much money people have, I cannot understand how you can buy a truck you haven't even test driven yet, I would never ever do that. especially one that could have bad turbo lag or other crappy driving characteristics, much smaller bed and interior dimensions in some areas, etc. And now it looks like they will be as expensive (there ya go hex, dont want to piss you off, lol), or more expensive as we all know that the big 3 will discount before toyota does and now toyota is NOT starting off lower in most cases with the exception of the AT4X and Denali ultimate, which are way outside what toyota offers anyway

I like it even less than the darker one lol. Honestly I don't offroad so I might be able to live without that stuff. It's just nice to have if needed.

The "real world" pricing is not all together surprising actually. Toyota has to position products in the market price wise, they have external pricing they have to look at as well as pricing within their own line up.

So with the 2021 (and a little earlier) most of the trucks people actually bought were pushing high 40's-Mid 50's with options people want etc.

Tacomas (regardless of base price) were being bought for the mid 30's low 40's...

So the change in the Tundra and upcoming Tacoma have them just shifting the pricing

You will see most Tacomas in the 40-50K (maybe pushing over 50)
Tundras are now pretty much High 50's into the mid 60's and beyond.

The Sequoia will probably be knocking on high 60'-80's. (where the land cruiser was)

4 runner will probably go up into the high 50's 60's as well.

They really had no choice but to move everything up a bracket to prevent too much overlap that would create market confusion and/or drop sales on a particular line.

LOL every youtuber out there did it and it was in the low 7s or 7 flat.
The old 5.7 is 6.5 on a normal day just like those are.

I doubt very few people are purchasing this simply because of fuel cost savings. People buy it because it's the newest, simple as that. The price increase has to do with a lot of things, internal and external. It's a brand new platform from the ground up so cost will obviously increase. The global economy is also a reason for the pricing. I don't think the price increase is all that unreasonable nor unexpected. This can be said for any manufacturer with a new gen vehicle from the ground up. Look around comparable domestic trucks. Toyota also said the Tundra was not going to be a value proposition, it was going to be competitive.

yeah running different combo's for accessories and if i drop the tow mirrors and aluminum running boards, i can get it to 65k w/o hybrid.

thinking i really dont tow enough to justify the tow mirrors (maybe once a year if that)

    S&H $ 1,695.00

    ALL WEATHER MATS $ 169.00

    HOOD/FENDER PP $ 395.00
    BED MAT $ 139.00
    CLASSIC RUNNING BOARDS $ 550.00

    $ 63,423.00

    HUD $ 1,645.00

Considering the 2022 Pro has MTS, Crawl Control, rear locker, hybrid, not bad. And the new version of Crawl Control doesn't sound like thirty ballpeen hammers whacking the firewall. That's worth $2k right there.

Yeah it says power just no memory. I think it’s the same as the limited softex seats.

Why would you guess less reliable? I would think exactly the opposite.less power ,less stress on the identical motor.

That's the one complaint I have with Toyotas packages. I understand having different options available between sr5 and the upper trims, but between your upper trims pro, 1794, platinum, and even the limited, I think all options should be on the table. No reason off road package isn't available on the platinum or that you can't get the tow stuff on the pro or even something as silly as the memory seats.

I was looking at the product info firm on the Toyota Newsroom page and it doesn’t have anything for that SPECIFIC package you’re asking… but my guess is that it’s basically going to be the SR5 Premium package + TRD Off road. For reference, the SR5 premium comes with “SofTex seats, 8-way power adjustable heated front seats with 2- way power lumbar, dual zone automatic climate control, and color- keyed outer door handles.” I don’t know this for certain but based off of “premium” packages on base level trims in the past this would follow suit!

Nope. I'd rather keep the 5.7 and put a supercharger on the 2.5 gen. It's a truck. Not interested in the luxury truck stuff.

Agree 100%, the biggest mind boggling thing to me is the towing stuff. If you are going to brag about being able to tow up to 12,000lb, you would think that when you get up in that range most likely you are going to need tow mirrors to see past that trailer behind you.

As always. Adding packages to any new vehicle no matter the brand the cost adds up fast. IMO the only package with bang for the buck is the Offroad package.

So if you want the off-road package in 4x4 and don't want the pro, your options are SR5 or 1794.

Likely still an error on the spec sheet as there have been numerous examples of a Limited TRDOR 4x4 in online literature and available to drive during press events.

I thought it would be odd for Toyota to shoe horn their customers into the extremes if they wanted the off-road stuff

I wasn't clear, I think the 22 with the ttv6 will be less reliable than the 5.7, your probably right the SR version being detuned could be more reliable than the sr5 and above

That makes sense and not what I thought you meant, thanks!

I am sure in no hurry to replace my 5.7 SR and they dont seem to want me to anyway.
