I have used my front tow hooks once in 15 years. The vehicle I was pulling on wasn’t even stuck, it was a 1 ton 24v Cummins that wouldn’t start because it was -32F and the owner had cleverly not transitioned to #1 Diesel yet. Yanked him out of a parking space and put some “English” on him using the front of the Tundra to get him out of the spot and closer to an electrical outlet on the side of the RR depot. Even after he plugged his block heater in, the truck sat there for a week. That was back in January of 2008.

TFL just released a video with the Capstone.

Big takeaway is that all hybrid pricing will be released Feb. 1st.

As in what just the hybrid upgrade will cost , or what each model will cost? Hopefully we will find out about the pro.

EDIT: I just watched it and it sounds like mpgs and pricing will be announced on all hybrid models.

If memory serves that was about the last straw for that truck.

It might have been there longer, I had no seniority at the time and had a January vacation, so I was gone for a couple weeks after that.

I don’t understand this new Trim CAPSTONE
is it just heavier better quality leather seats and the bigger 22” wheels that supposedly makes it better than the Platinum? Plus still only 400w power in the bed. He doesn’t mention anything about it being quieter than the platinum or anything about the glass.

Back to the power in the bed is it just an inverter issue,,, with the F-150 powerboost offering 7.2kw and the Riv R1T offering 1.5kw
even the T Sienna has an optional 1500-watt inverter. Surely they are working on ways to update upgrade something that could increase this 400w of power?

I couldn't agree more. I don't dislike what they did, just don't understand why this isn't a package instead a full blown trim.

So that’s what the dark red brown pile of dust next to the depot is!

    Mystery solved.

I heard it has acoustic windshield and acoustic door glass. But this trim is basically a fully optioned 1794/Platinum.

    @Gene5253

Let me put it another way.

Per Mr. Sweers, Toyota has sold more hybrids and for longer than any other auto company. They know the hybrid space.

So if this new Tundra Hybrid is rated for less than a F150 hybrid and costs more. Should Toyota nation be disappointed that the culmination of a 14 year release is less than a competitor in one of the companies biggest areas of dominance and strength?

I don't know the numbers, but I honestly want to know what "qualifies" as a passing grade to you and what would make you join the segment of folks you just highlighted.

Edit - To be clear, I'm hoping the numbers are great. The new Sequoia per that last rendering has me excited

Looks like 2/1 should give a resolution to this bet I haven't forgotten about. I have the under $69.5k for TRD Pro MSRP, Knoxville has the over.

I have no horse in this race as I am not interested in the Max. I just know from reading all the negativity towards all the improvements that Toyota has done w/Gen 3, that people (some) will complain no matter the #s

there are many complainers in the world.

I remember as a wee little lad visiting my granpaw an granma big farm in Bruce, South Dakota.
They had a major snow storm (we are talking what felt like 10’ of snow ) well i remember it covering my paw paw’s old white church bus he converted into a hunting overlander. we dug tunnels to get inside of it. But we also had to stay in the basement of the farmhouse because that is where there was a woodstove for heat and cooking … we were stuck there in the basement for over 5 days. And i remember as a very little boy (6 or 7) I was complaining and grandma said, “just be thankful your alive, warm, and have some food.”

I saw my first third gen in person tonight. I definitely thought it was a Sierra when I first saw it from the side.

The 400W inverter is a head-scratcher to me. That's 2005 Tacoma tech and the SR5 TRD Offroad doesn't even have it.

Has anyone found anything on the possibility of removing the under seat storage? (Diagrams or Pics) Looking to create a relatively flat floor and I finally saw a 2022 Tundra at a dealership and it looks very possible.

i couldn’t agree more. I am getting the hybrid for the extra mpg (hopefully) and the torque. I would be severely severely pissed if toyota only does 1 better on the hybrid economy since they OWN this marketplace. Hell detainee the torque for better mpgs slightly.

If the hybrid can get me back to stock numbers on light wheels/ 35in tires, bumper, lift and weight in the bed I’ll be beyond stoked. If it’s better around town with said gear (which it damn better be- stop and go is the mileage killer) I’ll be stoked, if it tows better and increases fuel economy 10% I’ll be stoked. Luckily I live in the hills and mountains so all the Regen nonsense should be a non issue
