I think whatever anyone does to their vehicle is for their liking, it doesn't bother me. As for the "unsafe" factor, speeding is unsafe, but we constantly discuss the power of every truck made. I feel whatever you want and whatever makes you happy, that is all that should matter to you, the opinions of others shouldn't matter. That's just my.02

Easily. Commuted to work in it for years. Speed limit up hear on the Queen's highway is 62mph (100kph).

    No 5 speed? I'm disappointed.

Sadly, no. The wife's demands were automatic and AC. At the time the base model was manual transmission, manual steering, no AC for $12,995 CDN MSRP. If I was single I would've bought it. The '05 Echo was the most fuel efficient NA engine on the market in Canada at the time. 4.5L/100km (52mpg). Sh*t, our 2017 Prius is rated at 4.5L/100km.

    Loved that car!

My dad's Matrix had AC, manual transmission and manual everything else. I think it "only" got about 48 mpg, though.

The Matrix was our second Toyota. Bought it used. Used it like a dump truck then finally bought a small utility trailer. Loved that car too! Sadly, had to trade it in on a used Tacoma when we bought our first travel trailer, otherwise I'd still have it. Wife kept driving the Echo until we replaced it with a used Prius.

Thank you for posting! She's a lux truck - can't wait for mine. Glad I have the saddle brown leather though - that cream color looks gorgeous new but not too sure how long mine would stay looking that way...lol
Nice to see the OME safe as well. The bed extender I'll pass on.

    Thanks again for the post!

Has anyone heard of dealers working to fix some of these minor exterior fit and finish problems under warranty? Like window trim.

I've not had any, but I'm absolutely confident mine would; I've had them replace one of the dash speaker covers when it broke, and have had them fix some squeaks.

You’re right—speeding is unsafe. It’s also illegal. At some point, you doing you becomes a hazard for everyone else on the road. The Carolina squat thing, depending on how extreme, is unsafe at any speed because you can’t see over your hood at all. I hate new laws and regulations as much as the next guy, but I also don’t want my family to share the road with people who can’t see over their hoods and blind oncoming traffic with their headlights.

Donut Media did a video on it. And apparently, in Myrtle Beach, SC, there have been dozens of accidents where squatted trucks have run into vehicles in front of them because they can’t see.

The SC bill would make it illegal for a truck raised 3 or more inches in the front and lowered 2 or more inches in the rear to drive on SC highways.

Just wondering at this point what would be covered. Not perfect fitment? Or does warranty cover broken stuff only.

Might depend on your dealer, but my dealer wants me to be happy and if something is obviously not fitted correctly, they will fix it. They want repeat customers and customer service is how you do that.

If this is an easy and relatively cheap thing to do, I imagine most will do this. I know I want the features of the TRD off-road, but the color matched of the sport.

    They are.

There’s also more wind noise issues that keep pointing to the upper left drivers window as the point of noise so I assume folks are getting new weather stripping or moldings.

I got quoted around $500 for a vinyl wrap of the chrome on the grill and 2 panels on the back. It doesn't bother me enough to sped that kind of money.

That looks much better, but that gap on the rear bumper between the back part and the part that wraps around the side does not look good.

If I end up with a '22, I'll be asking the dealer for pricing on color matching the parts. Then I'll be going down to the local custom autobody shop and getting pricing on painting them there. It blows me away that chrome is still a thing. It looks so tacky and trashy.

Just you wait, chrome will come back with vengeance. It goes in cycles and at some point colour matching and blacking out with be tacky. I did the blackout thing with this truck, next one will have chrome on it - get the right colour and it is a great compliment

A small bit of chrome here and there looks ok on the right colors, silver or white for example. Other than that, I've never seen chrome look good on a vehicle. Chrome grille surrounds always look like shit. Same with chrome door handles and bumper caps. I'm not a fan of the fully blacked out or murdered out look either though.

It was about time SC put that law into place and enforces it....lots of Darwin Award winners riding around these days in those trucks. When they pull one over they should be allowed to dismantle the suspension and leave it on the side of the road for the owner (who we know is an upstanding member of society)
    to have to clean up.

Because there's nothing SC needs more than a pile of rusting suspension parts next to every highway mile marker in the state.

Sorry - I am from Ontario Canada so maybe I don’t get the Carolina reference, but regardless, I have NEVER seen a truck raked/squatted like this. W. T. F. ? People actually do this? My lord….

Yes, it's the vehicular equivalent to wearing your pants a foot below your waist with most of not all of your underwear visible.

I wanted a faster vehicle so I also bought a Chevy SS... because 4 door sedans with big V8’s are hilarious.
    Yes they really do this.

You may be able to identify owners of said squatted trucks in public even outside of their vehicle if they’re nearby.

They will be wearing “Affliction” branded apparel, and a flat brim ball cap (with the stickers still on the bill) probably in the company of similarly dressed individuals. If they are with a member of the opposite sex, you will notice an uncanny resemblance between them. They’re also invariably a fan of illegal drugs, particularly meth.

I bet replacing with factory painted parts will be the cheapest (and best) option. Body shops these days don't want to mess with non-insurance work, so they quote pretty high
