Had a tear from loading wood, tried to glue it up and the entire thing started peeling off. There’s no adhesive holding it to the bed, it’s a giant $300 sticker. What was Toyota thinking? This is a slap to the face, worst bed-liner I’ve ever seen.

ours is peeling up in the corner too and it really does feel like a big ol sticker, and not sprayed in.

I hate to see this. I didn't want this option but it comes with the truck that I'll be picking up this week.

On the Toyota website, it says "Fully warranted; repairs completed quickly and easily at a Toyota dealership". Have you contacted the dealer?

I waited 6 months to find a truck that didn't have shitty bedliner. No regrets.

My dealer is all over it. Haven't been in for the first service yet, but they said they'll take a look anytime we bring it by and get it fixed, whatever fixed means.

We had someone come in with the same issue and Toyota let us have the truck get LINE-X and they paid for it.

Good opportunity to get a spray in Rhino Lining. I put one thing in my bed and scratched the tailgate liner. That stuff is brittle and with some temperature changes I can see it coming off.

I think it was earlier 22s. Mine was a September 2022 build and no issues despite hauling loads of logs and debris

i think the 22 w/o the raised "tundra" bed liner are the crappy one's everyone is having issues with. the ones with the raised "tundra" are not having issues.

i know mine is the raised "tundra" and the fit/finish looks way better than most of the 22's i have seen on here.

I'm just curious if it's a knockoff spray liner or if the beds weren't prepped correctly. They should have a sanded appearance before they are sprayed.

Crazy! My 2016 still has the original bedliner and I've abused it to hell and back. No chips, peeling, etc

These are port installed bed liners using steel application techniques on a composite bed with obviously poor results. Line-x methods fix this. However the purpose of a composite bed is to not have rust, not need a coating and reduce weight (line-x on a 6.5ft bed adds about 60lbs, composite is lighter than steel as well), thus an uncoated bed seems ideal for 2022+.

i would have preferred w/o the liner like we did in the taco. never had a need for a bed liner in a composite bed anyway.

but unfortunately, it was a minor add-on i was willing to compromise on to get our plat.

it was the only option i really didnt want.

Oh for sure, I think 1) This was a quick way to add 500-800$ to the new Tundra MSRP and 2) Many truck buyers assume they need a bedliner (so value the 500-800$ price increase vs other dealer garbage like window etching etc.) which resulted in this unfortunate situation. Now many owners are upset for the lack of quality/purpose. Not much we can do other than I suppose people specifically asking for no bedliner on the phone etc. might get back to corporate.

Yeah, we were waiting for a Solar Octane Pro, so I didn't have too many choices to make. Ours is a 2023 and it's really only peeling on the right rear corner.

I must not be using my bed hard enough. My bed liner hasn't had any issue and I had my truck for almost a year and half now. I love my bed liner, makes less of a slippery situation when loading my motorcycle into the bed.

I just finished dealing with Toyota and a dealer after finding out Toyota forgot to install a seal on my antennae fin. My had been taking water through the fin for a year and I never noticed because it leaked behind the rear seat. Only found out when I heavily detailed the truck, found mold in it and took a week to dry out. Toyota gave me the runaround and despite have several electrical issues it still didn’t qualify as a lemon under state law. So the dealer fixed it, (and scratched the heck out of my rear quarter panel and door frame) I’m stuck with a 66k truck that has water damaged electrical components and intermittent electrical issues in the first year of ownership.

Don’t get me wrong, I love the truck but Toyota doesn’t seem to give a flying truck about the end user these days. I will call my service tech tomorrow and see what they say.

Mine tore the very first time I loaded a cooler into the bed, second or third day of ownership. It just grazed the wheel well and peeled right off. No adhesive or anything underneath, fixed it with gorilla glue and moved on.

Funny thing is the composite bed is really nice and solid. Why they would go and slap some cheap grippy sticker on it and call it a day is beyond me.

cause to some people its a bragging point to the neighbor/friends that its oem.

i beat the crap out of our tacoma composite bed when we were younger and doing yard honey do lists and it took it like a champ. plus the smoothness is way easier to clean than a rough bed liner. just pull the mat out and hose and sweep it.

What is the benefit of a liner in a composite bed? Not a smartass question, genuinely curious. Is it the consistency/slickness/coarseness difference? Is there evidence ultra heavy use can damage the Composite material?

If it turns out people want it just because they want it I won't judge, I'm not here to have that fight. I've just always wondered since finding out people still put liners on some of these. If I had a bed made of a no rust material I'd be glad not to have to coat it and introduce another potential future failure or maintenance point.

technically there is no benefit. the only downside is added weight is the 1st that comes to mind. rest is subjective for down/up side to having a liner.

some people say it lessens sliding but you can resolve that by buying a mat for about 500% cheaper than the oem liner.

I honestly don't see the need for a spray on bed liner for a composite bed IMO. It's never going to rust so why line it?!

I agree about the sliding. The composite bed without the spray liner, or mat, is the slipperiest truck bed I've ever seen; to the point of dangerous.

I am so glad I opted for the Toyota bed mat instead of the spray liner.

Remember everyone, as this is a port installed option, you can have your dealer remove it (or any other port options) from the vehicle if you purchase before the vehicle ships from the factory. No matter what the window sticker lists, only the factory installed options are unchangeable.

$s for Toyos obsolete regional distributor system which has crazy faux ports for a truck produced in TX.
