My brother just bought a new 2017 Limited with an OEM power locking tailgate and oem led bed lights. WTF? I see neither of those options in the accessories page on Toyota website. Does anyone here have the power locking tailgate and/or the lights? Do they work well?? Yes the bottom line is I can NOT be outdone by my brother, so I will be trying to add these to mine!! Lol!!

I think the 2018 comes with the bed lights on some models. Not sure about the power tailgate lock though. It’s totally possible that the dealership installed aftermarket parts on it to enhance the selling point.

I haven't heard of the locking tailgate being a factory option.
I did the pop n lock on mine. Super easy and about $90.

My new Silverado has a locking tailgate. It locks and unlocks with the doors. Just thought I'd throw that put there...lol

And the good news is, you can tell your brother that your truck can do the same thing, and probably cheaper than what the dealer charged him. ;)

The LED bed lights on my 2016 Platinum have a Toyota part number and were installed by the dealer as part of my purchase. There were several Tundras on the lot that had the LED bed lights installed at the distribution center along with spray in bedliner, side steps, etc. But they did not have a power tailgate lock, so I installed the Pop & Lock version.

Does pop and lock work with your fob etc. or does it require a separate fob?

Works with the factory remote or any remote that unlocks your doors. It is wired into the power door locks - I have mine set to unlock drivers door on first press on the remote and the rest of the doors and tailgate with the second push on the remote. When I press lock, it locks all doors and tailgate. When I put my truck in park, all doors and tailgate unlock as well. So, it works with the power door locks.

x2.. on the easy installation of Pop and Lock... just installed this evening. Took about 30-45 mins. Only issue was the wiring needed to be reversed to make it work correctly with the lock and unlock sequence.

My 2017 SR5 came with the power tailgate lock and Rugged II tonneau cover. It's linked to the fob as previously stated, but it will not turn off the auto-relock if you open it. Only opening the doors will stop the auto-relock.

That's exactly how the pop and lock works too.

There may be a setting with Techstream where you can turn off automatic relook, but I am not sure...

So how exactly do you wire it up? Is there existing wiring in the tailgate or do you have to run it into the cab???

*EDIT* Found a YouTube video with the instructions. Seems pretty simple and straightforward.

It is, there are several options as to what route to run the wire to the front. If you use the youtube way don't clamp everything down until you know there is enough wire at the front.
Here is a thread that explains it.

Go listen to your brother lock and unlock the tailgate. If you can hear it, and it’s fairly loud, it’s probably the pop and lock. If it’s silent, he’s going to make fun of how loud yours is.

My 18 Limited has great bed/cargo lights, but I don't think it has an automatic locking tailgate.

Yeah, you can lock your tail gate while your Chevy spends most of its life being repaired.... Sorry I couldn't help it.

Bed lights are listed as an exterior accessory on Toyota.com. I think they are kind of worthless if you have stuff in your bed. Overhead light with LED bulbs works fine for me. I added bed lights to Tacoma because it did not have overhead bed light. I mounted them up high on sides. Used submersible marine LEDs.

That's kind of what I was thinking. My truck has cargo lights, but I put a Soft Topper on yesterday and now the bed/cargo light is useless. I'm thinking of putting a LED strip light on one of the supports and wiring it into the cargo light system. Then I'll just unplug

Do you have the deck rail system? A member on here and tacoworld makes a kit of LED’s that mount beneath the rails. I plan on adding it eventually.

these oem parts for the bed lights and tail gate lock are unique to GST and/or SET. Toyota USA does not have this as an option. remember that GST/SET do not follow Toyota USA rules.

they make up there own package/option codes that don't translate to Toyota USA codes.

good case in point is the TSS package (GST region specifi) that conflicts with the Toyota USA branding of TSS (Toyota Safety Sense)
