Not shooting your idea down but why? If you are going to go through the trouble you may as well gut the system. Sound quality out of the JBL is poor. IMO.

Your total cost and effort into the process will leave you feeling cheap and used.
Honestly, if you don’t have JBL already, go ahead and just get a good Kenwood or Pioneer in-dash unit with AA and CarPlay and the appropriate idatalink connector for steering wheel and other integrations. Upgrade other components (speakers, sub, amp) as you see fit and walk away much cheaper with a much better system.

The JBL sound system in my truck is the only thing that really disappoints me. I would install quality components or just spare yourself.

Okay, okay yeah I know, the JBL sucks. I'm only really trying to ball on a budget here and $300 is not bad. That's upgraded speakers, a subwoofer and a amp. I so far have sound deadening and thermal cell lining EVERYWHERE in my truck. You name on possible area I have and trust me, my rides and sounds like a Cadillac.

JBL has a completely different OEM wiring harness than a non-JBL.
Non-JBL, the dash speakers run off the shitty Entune HU, door speakers are sent a mid and low only signal thru the shit amp.
The system uses the dash speakers as tweeters.

On a JBL, the dash and all other speakers run off the shitty under-seat factory JBL amp.
The JBL speakers aren't any better quality than what you have now.
They are still shit low ohm speakers with tiny magnets.
    The JBL sub sucks.

As a whole, the Entune HUs SUCK, be it JBL or non-JBL.

Fortunately for you, a non-JBL is easier to upgrade.
    If you want to keep the shit Entune HU in your non-JBL;
Get rid of the OEM underseat amp and replace it with a 5-channel, using this harness.
It requires no cutting of the OEM wiring, just run your power line to the battery for the amp.

Amazon.com: 2010-2019 Toyota Tundra (w/o JBL Audio) AutoHarnessHouse.com Factory Amp Upgrade Harness AHH-4438 : Electronics

You'll need a DSP or decent LOC (Audiocontrol LC7i or equivalent) to sum the outputs of the shitty Entune HU to regain your highs as well as give you a low level RCA jack output for your amp..

You'd be better off replacing the shit Entune and running RCA cables from your aftermarket HU to the under seat amp area for your new 5 channel amp.

If you have the money to sound deaden your truck to perfection, then you should have the money to buy a decent AM HU, an iDatalink Maestro for steering wheel controls, and a decent amp.
You can add a sub to your 5-channel amp when you are able.
You can even try running the stock speakers on the amp and see if that works before replacing them.

All the money and time you spent on sound deadening was money wasted if you want to try to keep the shit Entune system.
With some nice front door components, you can disconnect all 3 dash speakers and have a great front stage.
You can put the tweeters in the existing front door sails, or purchase JBL door sails..
You can even mount them where the side dash speakers go.

Did I mention the Entune HUs suck balls?
    Good luck...

You forgot to emphatically state how badly the stock Entune HU blows.

Welp, I guess that settles it. No JBL for me haha! I guess the next step is to upgrade the head unit to a floating style HU and everything audio and video wise all at once.

I wish I could remember what thread it was..
But there are some posts of floating panels that look really nice.

One in particular, I think it was a Pioneer, fit almost flush into the dash.
The guy used the stock HU mounts and modified them somehow.
But it fit perfectly in the dash.
I'll see if I can find it when I have some time.

If you wanted to save the Entune, you could do it.
You'd just need a GOOD DSP to flatten the signal out into your amp and be able to tune the system up.

But a good after-market HU will have all that stuff.
EQ, time alignment, etc, as well as giving you a clean low-level signal for your amp.
As well an idtalink Meastro will help you retain most, if not all, your steering wheel controls..

Whether you buy or not from Crutchfield, it is a great place to shop, learn about the product and features, and read reviews.
They also have one of the best return policies too, as long as you don't return too many things..

Crutchfield: Car Stereo and Audio, Speakers, Home Theater, Pro Audio, TVs

I'm running a Kenwood HU, Alpine PDX V9 amp, Focal front door components, Focal rear door speakers, and a JL Audio Stealthbox under the DC rear seat.
I think your crewmax has rear door tweeters, don't have those in my DC.
As in my other post pic, amp fits under the front seat.
Every connection you need if in that under-seat amp.
Output to all the door speakers, remote on wire for your amp, F/R L/R inputs from the HU if you decided to keep it, etc.
It's a little tough to run the RCAs from the HU to the amp, but you can do it..

Take your time, it doesn't have to be all done at once.
You could try installing the HU and the amp, run it with the stock speakers (just don't crank it too hard), until you can get the door speakers.
If you connect the front speaker output of your new HU to the OEM front speaker leads in the dash, it will connect the dash speakers, since they run directly off the HU.
Then when you get everything else installed and find the dash speakers mess up the mix (in my case) you can just unplug them in the dash.
The signal goes from the side to the center, so unplugging the sides will disconnect the center.
Then add the sub whenever you are ready..

I ran the stock speakers in my 2005 with old Fosgate amps for 9 years..
Built a custom box for a 10" Fosgate Punch sub.
It fit my needs when I didn't have much money.

If you need any OEM wiring schematics, let me know and I'll post them up for you..
    Good luck..:D

NO, I've had 4 different HUs in my 2014.
    2 Kenwoods and 2 Pioneer.
It isn't that much work to solder them up.

The first Kenwood petered out after 2 years.
Then the first Pioneer crapped out after 13 months (12-month warranty).
The second Pioneer, fortunately used the same plug, but the screen lag was awful so I returned it.
Second Kenwood is what I have now, so far so good.
Although I would like one of those floating screens if I could make it look flush.
I need to find that post.

I don't think they offered that wiring back then.
Although if I was doing it for the first time, I probably would..

This would suit me well if it weren't a fortune to do. My understanding is there's a bit more to it than just swapping the HU's (not insinuating that your post indicated it was simple, but just saying).

As for the OP, as you can see, the general consensus is that the JBL unit stinks. Even if you installed car stereos for a living, acquired the JBL HU for free, and were bored one afternoon, it wouldn't be worth it.

I think they changed the stock OEM plugs on the back of the radio in 2020.
That may be what the issue was on that situation @PermaFrostTRD

@1lowlife Ahhh thanks. So maybe finding a 2014-2019 nonJBL with nav I should be ok on the install? (Plug n Play is my absolute limit on wiring stuff)

    *edit* I'm in a 2019;

also sorry for the thread hijack, OP
