Reflecting on all of this in regards to bed access, in my opinion, I didn't have much better access to my bed in my '14 or '18 Tundra. I had to install the step assist on both of those trucks to help out.

Second gens at least had a little corner of the bumper we could use. That's gone now. Without a step, there is literally is no way to climb up without a Cirque du Soleil leap onto the tailgate. Or some external thing. Or the $450 oem step.

I have no problem with any of it. You said watch and learn to the video. 22PlatWCP wanted to keep the functionality of electric running boards but not have the bed step come out when the tailgate is opened. In your posted video it shows it can be on auto which works the both to auto open, always open which leaves them both out always, or off which both never deploy. So what is there to learn about keeping only the bed step closed.

YotaGarage has it in stock because they bought all them and other TRD parts up to sell at 50-100% overage.

LMAO. I hope no one buys anything from Yota garage. Their prices are 100% stupid. I guess they're getting away with it because they actually have the inventory to ship immediately where as Cool Springs, etc are taking days-weeks to fill orders.

YotaGarage had their Westcott kits listed as black anodized for $425… Since Westcott themselves sell them for $475 ($425 is raw), I went to buy and was told whoops price was wrong… refresh the site and now their Anodized kits are $499… will never buy shit from them…

I got my bed step installed the other day. Actually used it today to fit a bedrug mat. Never thought I would find it handy but it was ... being on the short side and the truck taller than my Sierra ... enough said;).

I was constantly looking for the parts and ended up getting the step from Elmurst Toyota and the bracket from Cool Springs. $384 US including some taxes to MI by Elmurst. That was two weeks ago but am guessing inventory may have disappeared by now.

I have to say I don’t understand the review from bloggers about how Tundras tail gate game is weak. I get ford and GM has some cool tail gates but as previous new gen owner it was a god damn pain the ass to use.

I think the tundras should come with the bed step standard and then automatic on upper trims. But the thought it needs some goofy ass multi function tail gate? No.

Only caveat is the decked out GMC one that has lights and speakers. pretty cool

I had a decent tailgate on my 2021 GMC 2500HD, but in the fine print it says you cannot use the folding step feature if you have anything in your hitch. I dented it on my BW hideaway hitch in the stowed position (read the fine print after). Since my hitch was always installed, I just used the tailgate as a normal tailgate. The step is very convenient on my Tundra. If I had my choice, I would take the step over a fancy tailgate.

I love my truck but the lack of accessories is borderline silly now. My bed cover is 4 weeks back order, black tailgate handle is 2 weeks backorder and the bed step basically can't be purchased
