I've had one from Amazon installed for about a 1 1/2 years now. No issues. I'm about 175 lbs. I do seem to remember reading something, somewhere, regarding torque of the bolts that attach the plastic step to the hinge mechanism. Perhaps it's CRS, but I do think I remember loosening them and then tightening them back down with a inch-lbs wrench. Perhaps the attachment bolts were tightened too much and cracked the plastic leading to the broken steps?

I have this one as well, works great for me and I'm not a small guy either. They suck, suck, suck installing.

I recently sold mine on the marketplace. There was a local guy who was selling a new Bestop for very cheap so I bought it. According to the packing slip that was still on the box, he bought it in 2014 and never installed it. The Amazon one was working without issue but it was a no brainer to keep the Bestop that sells for $300. The only advantage I can see to the Bestop is that the step is metal.

I just installed a Bestop #75505-15 tailgate step (Tundra '07-'21) that I ordered from the Walmart app, $215+tax delivered to my door.
I went the "cut the bracket" route. I had one on my previous Tundra for 5 years and grew very fond of the thing.
