i shot an email to northstar asking them about charging voltages. Here's the response:

"Thanks for your email. Standard voltage regulation on vehicles is perfectly fine for all Thin Plate Pure Lead batteries (both Odyssey and NorthStar). The challenge often times comes from too small of an alternator (not enough amps to reach voltage regulation), voltage drop (typically only an issue if battery is not under the hood), or not enough time to reach full charge. We typically DO NOT recommend a voltage step up in automotive applications as it will increase the potential of overcharging and thus dry out of the battery. The vehicles alternator (assuming good amperage output) will provde the energy needed to charge the battery back up under most conditions and a trickle charge is not needed unless the vehicle is left without running for weeks/months and then a trickle charge is needed to maintain a fully charged battery unless the battery is disconnected from the vehicle. I hope this helps, let me know if you have any other questions."

It sounds like the voltage booster isn't really needed if you dont have a lot of draw on your battery. I have a big stereo thats going to get bigger this week, so i like the idea of having it.

Not sure when or even if it’s going to happen again, but North Star usually has some pretty good Group Buy deals in the GB thread.

I bought the truck July 2017. Warranty is 3 years or 36k miles. I’m at 30k but 2 months over the 3years. My dealership told me they will not warranty it. I guess that’s just how Toyota plans it.

Nice to see your X2 Power batteries working out.
Mine was nothing but a PITA..
Died twice in 7 months and Batteries + wouldn't give me another one.
To top it off, I never did receive my rebate...

Maybe I just got a lemon..

    Good luck to ya....
