Hey the first shenanigans trip we ever did was in Anza, and we all did a day trip, so it’s doable. But we would like to camp this time

Haha @BUBBA_CHEVY almost skipped the run and brought up a smoker to make Tri-Tip :hungry:

I can vouch for his BBQ..............well worth the wait except during the summer months when the Devil himself decides to vacation in Perris and brings all the heat.

I'll wrap the benji in foil and toss it the fire. First to it gets to keep it :bananadead:. It might burn a little. On the bright side I'll still have bbq made though:)

I've drafted up the final itinerary for my group. I'd like to cap the group at 8 rigs (including me) and it will be an early Saturday morning run and ending the day at the joint camp spot for all the groups. Then we'll do a half-day Sunday. People are welcome to camp Friday night but I'd like my group to meet at the scorpion statue because it has more space (coordinates: 33.283484, -116.370007). Overall, I don't have anything planned that is extremely hard (at least the ones that aren't optional) because there isn't anything hard in Anza-Borrego at all (except maybe The Squeeze and Heart Attack Hill) and I want to welcome even somewhat fresh drivers to the group as long as they're welling to test themselves. This is mostly the same itinerary I run once or twice annually for groups of all experience levels; I've been doing these lead runs for a few years now.

    Saturday

[7:30a] Meet at scorpion statue; introductions and chat; gas up beforehand in town if you need to.
[8:30a] Wheels up; head East towards Fonts Point wash junction (we won't be going to Fonts Point but instead to the "other side" of it)
[8:45a] Air down all tires; from here we'll be hitting open washes Southeast until we get to the "other side" (difficulty: easy, 2/10; speed: fast, 4/5)
[9:15a] Arrive and enjoy the view
[9:45a] Head Northeast toward Calcite Mine trail
[10:15a] Calcite Mine trail (difficulty: moderate, 5/10; speed: slow, 1/5); there are several slot canyons around here and an arch if people want to do some short shaded hikes
[~12p] Head to Truckhaven's 4x4 training grounds for lunch and to play around on optional obstacles; if people need to gas up, there's a station a few miles East.
[~2p] Southwest through various open washes and other trails (difficulty: easy, 2-3/10; speed: normal, 2-3/5); along the way we'll hit a few tourist spots, such as the "pumpkin patch" and a palm grove or two
    [~4p] Devil's Slide (difficulty: moderate, 4-6/10; speed: fast, 3/5)
[~5p] Blow Sand Hill (difficulty: moderate, 6/10; speed: fast, 4/5)
[~6p] End day run at joint camp spot; dinner; begin optional evening run
[~7p] Night run activities up to the current group but can be anything from going fast through washes, going slow through some notches, or doing some hikes.

    Sunday

No set timeline but I would like to start around 9a latest. I'll leave it open-ended based on what the group wants to do but in general the plan is to head South toward Split Mountain and into Fish Creek. From there we can do a few short hikes (wind caves, mud caves) and a few short technical trails (Sandstone Canyon or Brokenshaft Gulch; both are on the harder side and sliders are required). The plan for this half-day is to continue heading South and eventually exit toward the I-8 highway, which means we'll be going up the Diablo Dropoff. There will be plenty of open washes to let your trucks hit wide open throttle and let loose, too. The plan is to hit pavement by 3-4p; from here it is about 1 hour and 45 minutes to San Diego.
    __________

@sdde4n, can you add my groups itinerary to the first post? Just quote all the content above and append it.

Kris @Spvrtan could you give us an estimate of the mileage range in this run, so I and others can decide to carry or get gas. Ty!

Not sure the mileage, but no need to carry gas if you arrive at the Scorpion with at least 3/4 tank. That said, I'll have some with me just in case.

Kris, can you bring the folding fire pit like you did last year? I won't have access to the one I brought.

Great itin, BTW. My group will do a lot of the same stuff, just slower, and without Calcite. I like the idea of meeting for lunch and then again at The Cove (campsite). My goal is to have comms capable of staying in touch with you guys to make regrouping possible.

There's a gas station within a mile of the meet spot so if you top off before then, you'll be fine for the whole weekend. It can't hurt to bring one 5-gallon can of gas just in case though. From the Saturday night camp spot, we're still pretty close to the town if anyone needed to gas up also.

Which one do you use? I’ve been looking for a decent folding grill or pit that I can put a grill grate on.

Kris had something last year that was just like five or six plates that interlocked -- pretty cool because it laid flat when stored. I don't remember if it had a bottom to it or not, but it was fairly large and looked homemade.
