When you add a spacer, you lift your truck by dropping your shocks. That gets you away from your bump stops. When you bottom out, instead of hitting your bump stops, your shocks take the force instead of your bumps. Often leading to a broken shock. Adding a bump stop spacer will help a lot. Easy to add, I would definitely get some before this trip.

These guys aren’t making fun of you in any way. They’re just trying to warn you because they’ve seen it happen many many times.

A little of this and a little of that. Its pretty run of the mill.
Joon, Warren and Dave are so damn mature. It must be the wisdom that comes with age.

I think we’re at a total of about 9 or 10 collapsed spacer lifts just at Tundras to Sedona events since 2015.
Unfortunately it sneaks up on you - cruising along at a decent and comfortable and mellow pace, when the rhythm of the bumps gets just a little higher and all of a sudden the front wheels come off the ground just a tiny bit, but the drop they fall into is further down than the previous one, and Poof, borked shocks.

I’m sure someone has a spare set of shocks to bring, and swapping them on site is no big deal, especially with the crowd attending. Go have fun and be prepared for whatever happens.

well those three “mechanics” clearly haven’t been off-roading w tundras w spacer lifts... every single trip in the past three years we have been on a spacer Lift truck has collapsed one or both front shocks. matter of fact two years ago three spacer lift tundras collapsed shocks on the first day! Don’t take it personal nothing to do w you. or your truck or anything relating to you personally. Come out have fun drink beers around the camp w us and enjoy some laughs and wheel your truck. We are speaking from experience that is all not saying your mechanics can’t fix stuff but clearly they don’t see what we see

Oh man...I remember that day so well for so many reasons.

    New Tundra = $40K
Spacer lift and "cool" wheels and tires = $2K
Learning that you aren't ready to run with the big dogs no matter how much money you spend...priceless.

We might laugh and joke when it happens but we will also help you fix it and get home safely. Don’t judge people by internet posts ... wait till you meet us then judge.. and I might be an ass in person too but I’m a helpful ass who will fix your truck...

Groups are all about full. @eccracer104 you will very likely have your own group if you don't mind.

This is gonna be awesome. Now all we need is a t-shirt to commemorate the occasion.

Worst case scenario.. add more to my group and @eccracer104 can help me lead the second half of the group as if they were two waves on the same run.
