Yep. I popped over the tracks and the damn cooler tipped again, so as you're all getting bombed and making u-turns I was on the side all pissed off "stupid god damn cooler wont god damn stay in place god damn" and ya'll haul ass right by me while I'm like "the fuck is going on"
I get in the truck and the girls are all "uhhh they said they were being bombed and we're on an active bombing range" good times!

That was Joey! No real damage thankfully. He put the steel bumper on days before the trip.

A little of this and a little of that. Its pretty run of the mill.
Can you imagine the story if someone’s truck got hit by a bomb?

So I was following Alex and my truck exploded.

Uh-uh. Write from a realistic perspective:

‘we were following Alex then, Bam!, the guy-right-behind-Alex’s truck exploded.’

    You know, ‘cause....

LOL @eccracer104 yeah i took you and colton for rides on superstition... and introduced you to LT! lol that was good times, and then yeah the damn bombing run... UGH! oh i let me wife drive us out of the dirt from superstition to plaster city, was awesome, because she kept pulling back on the whoops and im like no fast is smooth, next thing you know she was doing 65 over 2.5-3ft whoops i was proud!!!

And we always wait for everyone at turns to catch up.. . thats a SGU rule however unless you hate your kidneys and your truck in general, keeping up is unwise.

anyway hope you all have fun on Saturday... ill see ya at camp around 6:30 ish i hope... you will hear me coming for sure, just need pin drops text to me so i can find you. And have radios on so i can call ya when im close

    Duuuuude so much fun!

The year prior I went for a ride in Mike's 1st gen taco that's a caged SUA turbo 4 banger and also Chris's 4 linked supercharged and caged 2nd gen taco. All three are totally different animals!

Mike's truck you feel everything. It's small, nimble, and eats up a lot but it's like a desert go-kart.
Chris's truck is too much. We drove over god damn anything and everything at 60-70 and you didn't even feel it.
And then there's your truck! Perfect blend. You can tell the bumps and stuff are there but it's like "yeah fuck these bumps" and then eats them.

So cool riding in an LT truck!

You know I'll be lining up to go for a ride this trip too :burnrubber:
    And @Sunnier 's Tundy! :D :woot::yay:

    Also - great rule!

My go-to rule for runs if there's a turn: wait for your buddy.
If the front truck waits for truck 2, truck 2 won't miss the turn. If truck 2 waits for truck 3, truck 3 won't miss the turn. So on and so on until the caboose.

Only fails if someone get's anxious and goes when they should wait. That's only happened once, but thankfully the guy behind still saw the dust and was within radio range to clarify.

Me and @froggy78 are most likely in. We’ll be taking JP’s truck. We’ll be in @osidepunker ’s group. Dependent on whether we get his limit straps on next week or not.

Looking forward to it! Fairly new to off-roading and this is my first off-road pick up truck. I will have a 3 1/2" lift kit and 295/70 R18 Falken Wildpeak A/T3W tires installed before the trip. Will still be running stock TRD suspension (Bilsteen 5100) at this point. Signed up for the newbie drive group, but can party like a Pro after! Coming from Prescott, AZ with the wife and Mike and Terri Bynum.

So I’m not saying it’s absolutely gonna happen but 98.4% sure you will collapse a shock this trip @sdde4n you should explain what happens so he is not surprised ... someone bring him a pair of shocks just in case

Come on. Even on the beginner run? As long as he doesn’t try to go fast or technical, he should be fine. Well like 50/50 he’ll be fine. Better than Vegas odds.

I was thinking the same thing. Bent shocks make it really hard to run from bombs.

Pretty stupid comments. If this is what this group is about, talking shit and putting down other members vehicles. I think I'll pass!

No one is putting you down, quite the contrary. Everyone is trying to keep you and your truck safe and be sure you're able to have a safe ride home. If you have a spacer lift on top of 5100s or Billy yellows, they're VERY prone to bending off road.

No one is talking shit and no one is putting down your vehicle.

As Warren said, you and your truck need to be safe. None of us would want to see you have a bad trip if something breaks, which indeed has happened.

So is it the 5100’s that are the issue or just the combination of the 5100’s and the spacers?

I have been told by 3 different highly experienced mechanics who are doing this trip that my truck will be fine on the mellow drive. I don’t plan on doing anything stupid by pushing it too hard.

Basically, what a couple guys are telling me is that if I do this ride with my truck I will destroy my shocks?

No. What lift do you have? Are the bump stops lowered? If not then probably.

Nah, you probably wanna exercise caution is all, avoid big bumps and speeds that might allow a "sneaker" to come up on ya. Spare shocks wouldn't be a bad idea. Many of us carry a lot of spare parts, tools, tires etc. I'm adding a front axle to the list of spares I plan to carry. Maybe someone here has some shocks lying around in their garage that they can bring.
