Just curious about individual reasons why people obscure the license plates on pictures that are posted ?

Cause u can run plate #'s and find out where they live, you can screen shot it post on the web or send the #'s to someone or if you have connections with someone who can run #'s have that vehicle stolen or go to that person's house or work

You can see my plate while I’m driving around town or on the freeway. You can take a picture or write it down, not much different if it’s in my pictures.

Down here in Louisiana that's public information, you don't need to know a LEO or somebody at DMV. You can go to any DMV office fill out the request form pay the fee and in a few minutes you have the information you want.

Insurance pays for only 3 wheels, or didn’t pay the tint guy, or it doesn’t ride like used to, or I just don’t have one since my insurance went up again, .....

There is a MX track I go to a fair amount in southern Maryland. You have to tape over your license plate there because thieves walk around taking pics of license plates. They then have their girlfriend who works at DMV run the plates and they come steal your bikes when you are at work. I know it sounds like a crazy story, but it’s 100% true. People have been run out of there taking pics of people’s trucks. Where do you think the wheelie boys in Baltimore get their bikes from?

So I understand why people block out plates in their pics on forums and on Instagram. Thieves are everywhere. It’s an unlikely thing to have happen, but it does happen.

My GSXR1000 (about 10 years back) got stolen
    - they popped the lower (wood) garage panel
    - out of a 1 car garage townhouse
    - lifted over the side of the Durango w/o setting off the alarm
    - and left only shoe and finger prints on the durango

Thief died in a motorcycle accident 6 months later on another stolen bike, that lead back to my bike in his residence
