As much as I liked Fusion, I've switched to car scanner for the third Gen.

Skimming through this thread I saw a couple mentions and images of "Oil temp" on an '18 Tundra. I have Scangauge III and thought Toyota doesn't have a sensor to measure oil temps. Am I able to read oil temp? If so, how? I don't see it as an option right out of the box so I'd have to manually add it?

Fwiw, "oil temp" on a third Gen seems to always match coolant temp.
I never found a true oil temp on my 2nd gen either.

    Correct

I have a wireless carplay adapter in my 21 with stock radio, haven't had any issues displaying Fusion, just no gauges as you mentioned (which I actually like honestly)

Not the case on my 2018. Oil temp (I do not know where the sensor is) does not mirror my coolant temp. I’ll use yesterday as an example.

I was towing my travel trailer on the interstate. Wind was blowing hard right into my face, so I had to give her the beans pretty good to maintain speed.

    Trans temp ~212°
    Converter temp ~213°
    Oil temp ~210°
    Coolant temp ~199°
    5th gear
    Converter locked

This is where it consistently sat as I ran 65-70 mph. If I climbed a hill and the converter unlocked due to throttle position, my converter temps would climb to ~250° for a short period of time. The temp would plummet back down within seconds when it locked back up.

My total weight is north of 14K. Wind was howling. I was getting 6.2mpg…. Wasn’t great towing conditions, but I wanted to get home from a fishing show I’d worked all weekend.

Hmmm, I have a 14, and was wondering if there is a PID and sensor for the oil temp. I read there was no oil temp sensors on the Tundras.
    Cool that you have it!

Chad, where are these A/T PIDs in OBD Fusion? I don’t find them in any of the PID lists. I’ve tried with the vehicle set to 2023, 2018 and to 2016 as some have said here.
The only paid add-on I have is for 2016 Tacoma (as I’ve used OBD Fusion since I had that truck) Do you have any of the add-Ons?
Thanks for any help you (or anyone ) can provide. Ive been searching for trans PIDs for 2 yrs now for this ‘23 Tundra.
    Thank You

I have 2000 4.7 V8 SR5. What would be the best cost effective ($50-$150) obd reader with the best understandable live data that would be most relevant to servicing the truck in many ways (airbags, temps, ect)?

The other bells and whistles (Bluetooth, apps, wifi) I don't care for at the moment unless they make a huge difference.

Sorry, I didn’t see this till today but yes it was thru CarPlay and using the VeePeak adapter. I don’t think OBD Fusion has released any extended support for the new Tundra to show trans temps.

I believe most of us are using Car Scanner in lieu of OBD Fusion due to better support for Toyotas and a responsive dev team.

You can tag or quote me if you need anything.

I believe if you are simply interested in reading the data any BLE transmitter with a phone plus an app like Car Scanner will do the trick for you.

If you are looking to clear codes this app can do it but I believe you might have to upgrade to the full version.

I am using the Veepeak Scan tool and Car Scanner Pro app. Images are of my current readings that I can see directly on the main display as the Car Scanner App supports Android Auto.
