    What TJ said, a full grown male would have whooped his a$$ :) Second time I have heard of a runner getting mauled, the first was down in south Jeffco a number of years ago, the runner had a pocket knife and came out of it alive, but chewed/clawed up pretty bad and the cat lived too.

    No I haven’t tried that. It would be especially difficult for me because I don’t have a small handgun. Just a full-size. I could carry it in a backpack but that’s not good for emergencies. I think open carry in one of those backpack style chest holsters would be the best.

    When I was a kid we adopted a Doberman pincher that a customer of my fathers didn’t want. They didn’t want it because it had white on its chest. The dog was a nightmare at first. It showed its teeth to my mom. My mom promptly grabbed the dog and bit it's ear. No lie, that dog became so loyal and faithful to her. It ended up being the best dog we’ve ever had. The dog and I were the same age so we grew up together. It watched me like I was its pup.

    I know it sounds messed up but this was early 1980. I have since followed in my mother‘s footsteps. My pitbull showed it to teeth to me when she was a pup. I bit her ear. Most loyal dog ever! I used to take her food away in the middle of eating and put my hand in the dish. I wanted to make sure she would never snap at anyone. And she never has. Never had to scold her like that again.

    So I would probably bite the shit out of that mountain lion LOL and I’d probably die for it.

    Agree. I've had dogs show their teeth to me and it was on. Once they see who's boss, they do become loyal and never have to go thru it again. Except with a chow chow. I tangled with one of those and it didn't work. He was aggressive as hell, once he bit another family member, it was lethal injection on that SOB.

    Yep, sometimes they’ve got a bad streak in them and there’s nothing you can do about it. I’ve seen that before with a Chow. I’m not saying you beat your dog but you do need to show them who’s boss. I’m the pack leader and they know it. You’ve got to think like an animal not like a human.
