We just got a 2020 F350 Dually to pull my work boat which weighs in at 18,500 on the trailer in tow with 1/2 tank of fuel. Going 65 to 70 I avg around 15.5 mpgs. Thats better than my tundra gets hahaha.

Empty I have been seeing 23 to 24 juat putting around tho. It has the 4.55 hd tow package so when you get into the high 70's 80 mph then it likes to eat for sure.

Yes 6.7L powerstroke. I went from an 06 LBZ Dually to the new super duty and it is a big timeframe gap but everything down to ride quality is better on the ford. It does guzzle the govt juice when its working hard though.

When did GM go to IFS? I figured that would give a better ride.

They should have never put that shit on the trucks in the first place!
Wife has a 2015 Suburban since we have 3 kids and all their crap won’t fit in a Sequoia. I bought a Range AFM disabler about a week after the truck.
Runs just fine. It is a bit of a noisier drivetrain. We just hit 60k miles. Hope to get another 6-7 years and 75k miles out of it. It’s a very nice traveling truck. The Magnaride is smooth on the freeway but a little jostly on the back roads which we travel a lot.
Just had a front strut replaced under warranty. I foresee myself deleting the magnaride as well when I have to replace something. Will likely swap to Falcon or Fox.

Pretty sure the GM HD's have been IFS since the late 80's????

I will say that we test drove a 3500 Ram with all coil suspension. It rode awesome we just had so many bad experiences around the dodge line of trucks we went Ford this go around. So far so good. The ford dealer in my area is also more established than the dodge so that was another selling point for us too.

Its inevitable that newer vehicles spend time in the shop. Having one that is proficient in what they do goes a long way. Being it a govt vehicle as well we have to go to the dealership for repairs so having one close that is good is awesome

One thing that bugs me about the Ram 2500's is you can only get the de-rated Cummins. In Ford and GM you get the full beans in the 3/4 tons, but the Ram you can only get the full HO version in the 1 tons. Is the transmission that much worse than the competition that it can only handle 800 and change torque while the others are at 950 and 1075 respectively. So for me if I was buying a diesel a Ram 3500 is the only choice, if I got the 2500 I'd always be second guessing if I should have gone up and got the HO Cummins.

I see that point of view. My long term intention is to get the next gen Tundra. I just got offered 45k for my current 2019 limited with a bunch of mods on it though. I don't owe anything on it, and debating whether it's worth it to get a 2021 Pro (which I'm guessing will hold its value well/better than my modded limited when the next gen comes around) and keep that Pro until 2023, or just keep my current and hope it doesn't take too much of a nose dive in the next year.

It may be a moot point now with what GM is doing in terms of their payload numbers (I'm not as familiar with Ram and Ford) but I heard that a diesel 2500 may not necessarily be the best choice as some older ones didn't tend to have much more payload than a 1500. So the recommendation would typically have been gas 2500 or diesel 3500 anyway. But, as I said, that could have changed in recent years.

The thing with 3/4 tons is they were all de-rated to be below the 10k lb GVWR, until GM just decided to forget about that class rating. So a 3/4 I would be confident in taking it to the max payload and take it on any highway. Compare that to the 1/2 tons with 2000+ lb payloads and with the current choices I'd be very sketched out about going anywhere near that number, 1500 lbs is kinda what I would say is 1/2 ton limits. Off the top of my head the 3/4 ton diesel payloads were in the 2500 lb range, now GM is well over 3500 lbs if you get the max rating one, still down in the 2500 lb range if you get a 10k lb rated one. So the truck can obviously handle more, it's just a sticker if you're running commercially and want to avoid scales.
