It should have a little bit of grease I believe.

But now that we are talking about it it has me wondering.
Granted mine have been installed for awhile now so I forget exactly what the instructions say but I thought it just said do not over grease the fitting.
Seems like I would remember it specifically saying not to apply grease until you see it come out.

So when do they need to be greased again? Do they need to be greased again? And if they do need to be greased how does one apply the next round of grease if you aren’t supposed to pump until it comes out.

I had planned to grease them at each oil change just like I do the 3 U joints on the propeller shaft.
But I am wondering now if I should just leave it.

Id assume every 5-10k miles...much like an oil change or standard service...but without hearing from Terraflex themselves, it's all speculation...I would say you're good to go with that MO Black...that's what I plan on doing as well...

I had an email conversation with a Teraflex rep back in August, and I've emailed him to ask what the what with this problem. Kinda has me concerned too.

    [edit]:
Well that was quick. Not necessarily a full answer, but I'll take it:
"In the event that too much grease is applied. The only real damage that can occur would be to the seals or boots them selfs. The worst case scenario would be needing to replace the grease boot and retainer ring. Which is simple to do."

Instructions state every 2500 miles. Mine were put on at 1200 miles and I have been driving it more (because it is fun) so I am up to 2200 miles with no offroad use yet.

I'm near 4k miles since my install...all feels right...every oil change will see more grease...anything more than that feels excessive in my opinion...if I was desert racing everyday for 2500 miles plus between greasing, I would reconsider...and also have purpose-built stuff in-lieu of OEM+ bits...regardless, I'm happy

For anyone landing here from a search or watching this thread who hasn't yet ordered your shocks; I had a quick email response to a question about delays from a rep at Terraflex:

"We are experiencing a high level of part shortages on the raw goods. Which is therefor making our job of manufacturing the shocks a little difficult to do. With the worldly events happening, It isn’t abnormal for our shocks to be back ordered a few months. Up to about 8 months. "

Yowza! I am GRATEFUL those who ordered ahead of this delay worldwide, to have them in our possession or installed!

Quick question for those who have the Falcons on...I'm thinking of 35's for my next tires. Has anyone put 35's on yet?

If you keep your stock suspension springs, than you're good to go...from my understanding...The Falcons ONLY work...or...only are tested and warrantied if using an OEM spring setup...

Like any other leveling kit setup you can make it work but you’ll have to do some trimming and maybe a BMC.

But just do yourself and your wallet a favor and just run 33s they look right at home with this kit will save you a bunch of money and weight.

If you actually need 35s for your off-roading adventures this is not the proper kit for you.

Here're my 33s on Falcons set at 1up from stock on front...
I also have 600lbs in the bed (tube sand) for winter driving...might seem like a small squat...but it rides tight and right at level 2 in the rear...

I was part of the group buy and went back and forth with Stage 3 motorsports as I haven't received them. long story short I cancelled my order as Teraflex says it'll be several more months. sorry I'm not waiting anymore, 6 months was way more then enough. Anyone else in the group buy still waiting.

Yes, I'm still waiting. Emailed back and forth with Stage3 several weeks ago and the wait estimate response is basically I'm at the halfway mark.
I'm choosing to wait as the Falcons have jumped in price and the only other shocks I'm interested in are the Elka's which have also suffered from long delivery times.

The Falcons are worth the wait.

But not for nothing I am pretty sure Toytec AlumaBoss Coilovers are Elkas and they are in stock according to the website.

So went to install some mud flaps yesterday, and my drivers side shock looks similar. Passenger looks fine.

Only have maybe 3000 miles on them, no off-road at all. I love the shocks overall.

I’ll be calling TerraFlex on Monday, but did you need to have the shock removed / seals replaced?

    Thanks.

Ordered my levelling kit in July, and have yet to hear it's anywhere near Texas. Teraflex says the reason is scarecity of parts. I get that, but the larger market seems not so horribly affected.

Two folks in this small-audience thread with trouble. Regardless of the reasons, the possibility that there's no way to fix it and still keep the Falcons is information that has to affect decisionmaking. I definitely want the Falcon kit, but I do not want this trouble. Is anyone from Teraflex watching?

Man, that sucks. As far as I know TeraFlex doesn't have a presence on the forum, and neither does Stage 3.

Minor update on my leaking shock....

Just got off the phone with Teraflex / Falcon. They have a 3 year warranty, and said to just send the shock to them and they will rebuild it.

I am getting a new work truck in February, and don't feel any loss of performance. For winter Alaskan driving the shock will be fine, so will wait until then to send it off till then as to not be down a rig.

More perfect would be for them to send you a rebuild now so you're not down except for the time to swap them... Just sayin.

I was told the end of February before I received mine so I'm trying to decide if I should move on to something else. I would probably still wait if I knew for sure I would receive the shocks then but the arrival time has been pushed back several times for several months.

Exactly what I’m thinking. I am underwhelmed.

Super appreciative for the group buy, and happy for the guys who are loving their shocks (I was too).

I know nothing is perfect, and problems always come about, but……. I am kicking myself for being cheap and not doing a full TRD Pro Fox swap like I wanted.

I haven't seen anyone do it yet, but I guess there would be nothing stopping you if you had an OEM-style spring (I'll assume you mean spring). If you call up Falcon they will adamantly tell you that they know of (and have not tested) anything other than the OEM spring.

From Teraflex when I asked about using a higher spring rate. Posted this a year ago.

"Thanks for reaching out. Those are great questions. We do recommend using the factory coils and using the heavy accessory setting with our shocks to help off set the additional weight. We have not tested any other coil spring manufactures (other than the OEM) so I cannot guarantee fitment. Also the shocks have been tuned around the factory spring rate. With a higher spring rate from a after market coil spring. It could affect how the shocks react in a negative way causing a more rough riding vehicle."

Picked up the falcon kit from Colton (Hotshot Offroad) and got it on with some 275/65r20 on stock nightshade rims. Still waiting on the coach builder shackles, but loving it so far!
