Definitely the easiest way to go, gives plenty of slack to work with and don't have to clip or splice the factory wires/plug

Maybe it's the picture, but the red wire soldered doesn't look so good. I only mention because it could affect sound quality, come apart, or be an issue in the future. The black wire soldered looks great!

    ********COMING SOON**********

Hertz K170 component door speaker group buy!!!!!
Will be for 2 sets, so all four doors, including brackets and harness for easy install.

Wish you could also replace those good for nothing dash speakers and joke of a center channel? Well we will have the option to add on infinity 3.5" right and left dash speakers and a single custom made tech12volts center channel bracket which houses 2 JL audio tweeters.

    STAY TUNED FOR UPDATES
We will need 24 sets sold to make it work.
I will start another thread very soon

What would you expect to pay for all this? $600 $500? $400? Definitely not $320 right?..... oh but those damn shipping rates will get you and slow turn around of most speakers stores. Why deal with that hassell when you can get FREE yes free shipping and the amazing support and service from James himself @tech12volts.

Really interested in this if the price is right.

Has anyone done this before? Does it fix the "too much" door bass?

Install difficulty? Just curious...never heard of this brand before.

    Thanks.

These are great mid bass speakers. They have a crossover built into the wire for the tweeter so you dont have to mess with mounting a crossover box on your door.
Tech12volts lists hertz as an upgrade option in many of their JBL complete systems.
They are plug and play, and he will include brackets for mounting to the door. To install you will need to remove your door panel. Which isnt too hard at all.

What about the small speakers in the front doors near the windows? I assume they are some sort of tweeter?

Yeah they are tweeters. The hertz k170 is a component set meaning it has a mid woofer and tweeter with a crossover built in to put the right sounds and frequencies out of the right speakers.

    Hey guys,

Just wanted to give a little feedback as I installed everything tonight. Went really well and took me about 30 to 40 minutes. I chooses to remove the sub out of the old box and cut the wires off the speaker. This gives you plenty of wiring to work with and basically leaves everything stock if you ever want or go back to stock.

Before putting the seat back in, I turned it on and tested it. At first it sounded a little mutt led and rattled a little bit. Did not sound too good for the most part. I had everything hooked up correctly just did not sound real clear and deep. I unhooked the wires going into the sub box stripped a little more wire off and made sure they were nice and twisted and in all the way. I turned it on and it was much more clear and pronounced bass. I don't think I had the wires all the way in and making a good connection.

Just an FYI if anyone is complaining about murmttled or not clean bass.

Overall as a whole, I am really happy with the end result. Much more deeper better sounding bass. It is not going to blow you away per se, but now it is to the point where you know you have a sub now.

To test I grabbed my 6 year old daughter and went for a ride. Her favorite song now is In My Feelings by Drake. It hits pretty hard and as soon as it came on I looked at her in the back and she started smiling and was like "Daddy, what is that?" While she smiled.

Thanks to James for doing Thai and now I look forward to improving the "quality" of sound in the future.

Even for $200 this package I believe is well worth it!

I need to talk to James a little before i decide if I'm going to include the dash speaker kit in my order. I've thought about maybe doing the door components and just unplugging the dash speakers all together.
I don't have a big budget but after the improvement from just the sub I was convinced I would add more components that James recommends. Then on Sunday i blew a hose on my bathtub which dumped 10+ gallons of water every-fucking-where and is requiring me to replace my kitchen ceiling:frusty: so my budget took a hit this week. At least I have some time to figure it out because I really want these speakers and i really trust James when he says itll improve the sound quality a

Got the sub from the group buy and the Hertz Kit James recommends for the front doors.
The sub box is bigger and heavier than I anticipated. Good quality, especially when you consider the price. Installed the sub and the improvement is very impressive. I have a Pioneer nex4200 running through the stock wiring using an idatalink maestro so i don’t know if that makes a difference in sound quality but it sounds way better than the factory sub. Very much worth the price.
I’ll install the Hertz setup this weekend and report back.

I saw there’s a group buy on the Hertz kits. Very nice!
I didn’t get the Hertz Kit for the rear doors as I wanted to make sure I liked the performance. If the Hertz improvement is anything like the sub I’m getting another kit for the rear doors. Maybe James will make an exception and let me buy the rear Kit at the group buy price being that I already have the kit for the front.

I hear ya man, but my center channel has been unplugged for months and I have no issues talking on the phone via BT, not sure about navigation commands since I never use the shitty nav

I’d be in for speakers and if he decides to do another sub group buy since I didn’t get a chance to do the 1st.

Speaker group buy is live right now https://www.tundras.com/threads/tec...group-buy-option-for-dash-speakers-too.39104/
Shoot him an email and maybe he'll give you a little deal on the sub if you're getting in on this group buy.
I can look into another sub group buy in a couple months for those who missed out. We had like 80 orders last time around and as long as the volume is there to supper another GB I'm sure he'd be up for it.

I am the proud recipient of another UPS drop... wankers ... James is already on it and getting resolved. no damage on shipping box but foam was not supporting sub like it should and just floating inside the box.

So following up on my install... I did like others did and opened the OEM sub cut wires and fed the OEM bundle out of the box. I tinned the wires and inserted them into the new subs Jack's.

I started to look and see what failed inside the speaker and as I was rotating it with music on, as the word JBL was upside down it started to drive without farting, I resecured it to the box and it was farting way less, then I placed the box horizontally and it started to pump out some serious BASS.... that thing sounds amazing.. really worth it!!!!!! can't wait to receive the new woofer..

JRT is a great person to deal with. I had a shipping label within minutes. after informing him of the issue. :hattip:thanks james!
