HAD AN EXTREMELY LOUD CLICKING/CRUNCHING NOISE IN THE DRIVER SIDE REAR DOOR, TRIED TO LUBRICATE.... NO GOOD. FIGURED IT WAS THE INTERNAL DOOR PISTON. THEN THE OTHER NIGHT UPON CLOSING IT THE NUTS POPPED OFF, FOUND ONE SECURED IT WITH MY LEATHERMAN. IN THE MORNING TOOK IT TO GLEN TOYOTA IN FAIRLAWN TO GET LOOKED AT. THE TECH CAME BACK AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES SAYING "UR GOOD"... TURNS OUT THEY WERE VERY LOOSE AND THERE ARE INTERNAL PLATES SHIFTING AROUND AND POPPING. SO I CHECKED THE OTHER 3 DOORS WHEN I GOT HOME.

IT'S A 10mm IF ANYONE WANTS TO CHECK THEM.

KINDA ODD THING TO HAPPEN BUT IT DID SO JUST THOUGHT I'D SHARE THE EXPERIENCE.....P_20180218_125351.jpg

This happened to my wife's new VW. I had to buy some star bits (Not the standard Torx bits) to fix it. All good now though.

Thank you Marine 1. My driver door just exeperienced same exact thing. Both recessed 10mm nuts were loose and the door made an awful noise like it had been damaged. Tightened nuts and noise and clicking are gone.
Pretty sad that something as simple as these nuts come loose like that after 4 years/40,000 miles.

This is exactly why I bought my Tundra. F150 Ecoboost turbos failing prematurely vs Tundra loose nut on a door hinge.

Now if I can just find one of the eight 10mm sockets I own....

Everytime I'm in the tool dept at lowes I look and see what they have in 10mm sockets. Usually buy one or two just because.

    You mean you guys don't keep a 10 on your keyring...and dog tags...and in the glove box...and wife's purse...and...

Also, invest in some gold spray paint. Then you can ask the wife "where is my golden socket?" And she will know exactly what you are talking about.
