On my 2013 5.7 I thought I was facing the dreaded cam tower leak. I rolled the dice and only replaced the valve cover gasket on the passenger side. Its been over a year and looking good. It is weeping a touch from the cam tower and timing chain cover, but its way better than before. The main issue on mine was definitely the valve cover. Pic is of the after. Sorry cant find the before pic, but the side and top of the cover were coated. Along the seam where the valve cover meets the cam tower. You also couldnt see the gray sealant there for the cam tower. You could also smell it after driving, especially towing. Stink free now.

Even the passenger side VC is a big job, just a few odd things in the way or tough to get at. Really wish mine was the driver's side, that looked like a breeze. So glad I didnt have to do the cam tower. Really big job.
