Thanks to everyone who posts and gives advice. I’m not sure I should dedicate a thread, but Gen 1 owners can be in the minority, so here is a bit that I learned here or just did.

Added those extended sway bar links on top of the box, good move, found out later that I had already bent one link.

I went back and forth with spacers on the Durobumps. None, washers, these 3/8”....still not sure because I pulled the coilovers and after backing off the collars, still could not remove the springs. Need a better spring compressor set up. Used the 3/8” spacers and feel pretty safe I’m not jamming my shocks.

EDIT: spacers came out - not needed.

How’s the ride with the kings? You rubbing on those mud flaps?

Aside from trying to improve my paint, LEDs have been sweet and pretty easy, although I haven’t tackled headlights.

With my tire size and wheel offset, I couldn’t rub or bump anything if I wanted to. Maybe I haven’t jammed it in the right way yet, but seems to be clear all around.

edited because I better read @jerryallday , the ride is great, although I’m mostly a mall rat. I’m still trying to squeeze some more travel. But, although not an off-road guru, I have some time behind that wheel. It makes me want to drive a long travel. I’m screwed, I see the lowers on the Raptors when I drive past, and then think about what to do with my next Tundra...

Those tabs are plastic heated and bended, looks like a tape job.

I did my grill about 2 weeks ago, I thought it looked best to just do it all black and tape the edges off. I did it about 3 times. Once just the chrome, then chrome and outer trim... Just doing the chrome looked weird imo.

it’s easier to remove the grill also

I don’t make it into LA much but when I do, I hope I see this nice truck on the ride. Nice build. Really looks good and I enjoy reading how you are doing all the work.

Here’s the test piece with primer. Gonna go full throttle and follow what @jerryallday did.

Just a quick rinse to get all the dirty and grim off. Some alcohol and rustoleum plastic dip forms Home Depot about 6-8 coats.
I did the yoda and V8 emblems off the grill to get all the edges.

Have good lighting and take your time and make sure everything is dry and don’t move to fast trying to reassemble.

It’s going to look great, I wish I did primer

Are you removing the grill, it’s like 8 nuts and 2 bolts. Take a photo of the latch cause it can be a pain to remember the direction.

if your are in LA there was a big Toyota meet yesterday in the OC. Tons of great tricks and huge turn out.

Yeah, I pulled the grille. Was going to tape in the garage. Now just going to prep and shoot. Saw that event, was working, but seemed like a great thing to go to if possible.
