The first time I was ever in Portland was a family vacation the summer before 8th grade, which would have been 1989. Didn’t move here till 98. My wife grew up here, but her “scene” in HS (she graduated HS in 88) was more the Copper Penny.

Summerfest in Milwaukee, WI, is where I really got to see a lot of live music. I haven’t been back to it since I left college, but during the late 90’s we’d hit just about every day of the festival.

My first concert was Bon Jovi with Skid Row opening. Saw them in the Tacoma dome back when those two horrible bands were peaking.

My musical tastes seem to vary. I can do old school rap, but mainly just Too Short and Eazy-E. The new stuff doesn't do anything for me. Even the Dr. Dre era stuff doesn't call to me to revisit. I've got a play list of 200+ classic rock songs that I'll jam when in the mood. It's a wide range of stuff, from CCR and Eagles to Nuget and Seger to AC/DC and Van Halen. I've been exploring Country for the past year or so. I like the Country-rock stuff, but still cannot do the true classics. My electronic phase seems to have run its course, but still like lo-fi stuff in the background while I work. Haven't done Jazz or Blues lately, but still love it. Same for classical...it's all about the mood I'm in. About the only stuff that still drives me nuts is radio pop and R&B.

Ha! I remember the Copper Penny once I turned 21. Then there was the bar at the Holiday Inn by the Airport that was a popular place also. Then some bar downtown that had dollar well drinks. Remember this was like 1988ish. Go get dollar well drinks then off to the Holiday Inn for dancing. Then when it closed for the night, off to the Cooper Penny. Good grief I was a loser.

When I moved here, we’d go to the bar at the Red Lion in Jantzen Beach for 80’s night...

Oh yeah. Legendary. And the DJ with that stupid duck puppet. He had the duck sing “You Are So Beautiful” to a friend of ours on her birthday...

Bahahaha! So happy you brought up the duck - I almost mentioned that too but wasn't entirely sure that really happened. Those nights are... let's just say "a little fuzzy" in the memory bank. GOOD TIMES.:drunk:

First concert; Richie Havens at the Tucson sports center 1970. No seating, just cushions on the floor.

Second concert; The Who, at the veterans coliseum in Phoenix, 1971. Townsend broke new ground and broke his guitar slamming it on an amp. This became a trend for about 10 years

edit: I’m not completely sure after this, it’s kinda blurry and I’m not counting bar bands, some of which became known.

Update on the car buying... still dragging along. Got the “it’s the end of the month, make us an offer” email yesterday. I made an offer that would be worth it for me, but way too low for them. I’m in no rush, so the ball is in their court. Haven’t received a counter offer this morning, so I think I scared them off. Such is life....

Country-Rap hybrid may sound sacrilegious, but it works for me. My daughter loves "Outshine Me" and I cannot help but turn it up...I'm going to be the Dad cleaning the shotgun when the boyfriends come over, but I do have a few weak points. Don't tell her (or him) please.

Yeah...I get it. Two daughters here. The older one has had a steady boyfriend now for over a year, and he's a good kid. I had to get over the fact she's a grown person now...thankfully she still likes to spend time with dad. The younger one will be 18 in less than a month...no boyfriends yet (a couple short-lived broken hearts though). She's smart enough to hold out for someone that will treat her right.

What were you looking for again? I got tired of looking but stumbled on an awesome find. But would never pay the price. It is a 2000 Honda Civic with like 33k miles. They want $10 g’s though. All oem. No mods. Then I started looking at used 2010-2015 Is 250 and 350’s. Probably wait a few months and see what my actual new gas bill a month will be.

    Oh yeah that’s right.

In other news I had like 50 something comments to get through about the music chat. I have never been to a concert in my life. My best friend plays guitar and his dad plays in a blues band. They are both huge rock fans. He would listen to the newest Metallica album for like a week straight then teach himself how to play the songs.
I always was into rap. I remember telling the person at the store that I was 18 and bought Snoop Dogg’s first CD Doggystyle. I was probably 12 haha. My dad wanted to listen to it and the song with the intro of the teacher asking what he wanted to be was the last time I had that cd. It got ejected from the CD player and then the car haha.

@NWPirate is correct. I traded a few more emails with the salesperson but they won’t even counteroffer.

After a few days of the games, I’m over it. I’m not in a hurry...

So glad I’ve got both my kids in decent rigs right now. A 2008 Subaru Forester for my oldest, and a 2011 Subaru Impreza for the younger one... though she REALLY wants a pickup all of a sudden. I told her to get a job.

Made it to my Friday, 8 days off!
I would celebrate with a drink or three but we're doing a clean eating/dry 30 day thing, oh well.
We're going to head south to chase the warmer temps and sunshine in Tri-Cities.

Hope everyone has a great weekend!

Enjoy! Hopefully you find something fun to do over there. Good luck with the 30 day thing.

Working Saturday. Then Sunday I'll spend the day at my dad's. Help him out with some work on his barn and then steaks and football in the afternoon. Will be a short one day off weekend but the extra cash will be nice.
