Spent the weekend building a mini cabin next to the main cabin. Tried taking the tundra on some trails but no time :notsure:

And I was excited to just find a dirt road this weekend. I really need to get into the hills…

Ok, sorry for the delay on my response; we've had family in town and I really wanted try and see what you were referring to before I responded…

So, if I'm understanding what you're saying about the Demello, you are referring to the inside bar that runs lengthwise w/the truck, correct???

If I am understanding your concern w/these correctly, I see what you're talking about in the photos online. However, like you, I have no idea if what we are seeing is due to angle of the photo or if there is truly too much gap there…

Maybe @Shanet421 can comment on this, as he installed the hybrids on his vehicle and did a review...

this photo does seem to illustrate a pretty significant gap:

However, this photo depicts them being tucked nicely:

The images for their rock crushers appear to have an even worse gap than the hybrids, so :notsure:

I'd assume that for a top dollar product w/no such negative reviews (indicating any issues as you're suggesting) that they will provide the protection intended as any quality slider would. But again, I have nothing to validate that.

The one thing that was very appealing about these was the fact I could initially set them in factory bolt locations (like a set of steps) and not have them laying in my garage, until I can get the truck on a lift, etc. to finish the remaining aspect of the "slider" install by drilling them into the frame (without having to remove them from the vehicle). I just don't have the means of being able to safely and easily do that at my home.

Now, with all that being said, I looked back at the RCI install instructions, and it appears that I could do something similar w/those as well, until I can get it up on a lift to drill into the frame and complete the install process. So, I am not completely opposed to being part of an RCI group buy. But, I'd have to confirm install options, etc. in more detail first.

Also, when talking about a group buy, I'd expect that we'd be able to get the product at RCIs / Demello's, etc.. best pricing AND we'd be seeing reduced shipping charges for the group. $500 to ship 200lbs worth of metal is ridiculous! I had my entire truck shipped from IA to the west coast for $1700 less than a year ago.

    I hope this makes sense!!

What's up guys, first post here!

    I just bought my 2013 CM SR5 a few months ago. I also have a 2007 Tacoma SR5 and a 1999 4Runner SR5.

Here's some pics of the rigs.

Just buy the wkor (white knuckle off road) sliders. Buy once cry once. different options for different needs. Thickness of steel, weight, top plate option. Can be used as steps until able to drill, I know I did. Super solid rock sliders and great customer service. Bolts use same pre holed spots as well as the two worst bolts to put on are a breeze. No need to remove the gas tank. Trust me you won't be a to get a hand in there to attach a bolt if you wanted to. But wkor welds a welding rod to a welded bolt on a back plate that makes it super simple to get your bolt threaded to tighten down. The sliders are so well balanced I placed them myself with just a floor jack in the middle.

I did look at the WKOR kit. I actually like that design the best as the rails seem to extend the farthest. But drill the frame? No no no nope no.

Separately, it is good to hear from you. How are things going in ID?

Thanks, good to be here! Straight outta Bonney Lake :quickdraw:

The NW thread on Tacomaworld is my hangout spot for the last decade or so. That's pretty much where this whole Toyota journey started. I met a bunch of awesome friends, went on some great camping trips, drank many a beers and drained my bank account buying "necessary mods" for my Tacoma lol.

When I bought this Tundra I told myself "keep it stock" well that lasted maybe a week. Now I have a set of Fox Remote Resi COs & shocks sitting in my garage, SPC UCAs, grille insert, etc. Just waiting for the right weekend to install.

Yeah, if you'd just scroll up a few post to @Green Thunder question to me regarding why I was leaning toward the Demellos. He was asking about group buy on RCIs for our area, but I said I was leaning toward the Demellos. His concern was protection/coverage of the inner bar not being tucked in enough to fully protect.

So, any photos or feedback addressing and illustrating that issue in greater depth would be appreciated.

    Thanks, bro!!!

I was reading up a bit but the issue seems kinda vague. I have only had them on a short time but I can say so far I am very pleased. I hope these photos help clear up any concerns others may have. I added a ping pong ball and base ball to the photos to give better perspective. The ping pong ball does NOT fit anywhere between the square and round tubes.

    edit: this is my review

What's up guys...just checking in. Have been busy with work and daughters soccer. Anyway looks like you guys are all looking into sliders to protect from Walmart and Target carts...or curbs. haha. Just a heads up if you end up at Langers they will help protect from the boulders out in the gravel parking lot too.

Shameless plug here... but you know what else would help.. more lights!! Say for example some BD Squadron Pro's in Amber with Wide Cornering lenses and fog light kit already put together and wired...or maybe thats a good start but you want to add that hood bulge S8 40"bar also.. Well I will make someone a killer deal on the combo Squadron Pro's with the fog light kit and the SDHQ hood bulge brackets for the S8.

@reywcms that beast is coming together nicely!! I keep an eye out when I am over in your area but haven't seen it out in the wild yet. My neighbor just got his custom Red Whipple installed. I am working on talking him into re-gearing it next.

Hell yeah! We need to hit Day road real quick with @BrunoTheRescuePup. That thing is a real crappy road. I mob that thing in the Subie and it’s ok but just about every other truck I see just saws F it and either drives on the shoulder, or half way through the useless middle lane. I need to go get a pic of that red blower. Looks fancy!!

Also I see you @Baja Designs. I would keep these lights if you guys could tell me how to get them in this beast

It’s a 22 Outback Wilderness. Some searching around and I think there is a kit that may fit, but nothing called out directly. I only had those Pro’s in my Tundra for a month before I traded it in.

Bonus points if you design a kit. I’ll be in SD for Thanksgiving with the car and I could bring the lights. Just saying.

Hey Juanjoolio, Have you considered running those Squadron Pros as A-pillar lights? I found a company that designed some mounts that will work with our lights. As far as that 40 inch bar, you would have to throw on a roof rack with a light bar option but that still might be too long of a light for that setup. Here's the link to those mounts.

I actually am trying not to go that route on this car. The wife already has sports on her 4R for ditch and fogs too. So I can't repurpose them to her either.

If I don't sell them maybe one day I will say screw it and just buy this kit:

This is the one that I think "may" work. I have had enough rum to not be sure....but not enough to start experimenting with other brackets

I never got the 40" bar. Just bought the brackets for the last Tundra.
