I like the Bosch ones that you can get at NAPA. They have a winter variant that seems to work great for when it is snowy or spitting ice but it may be a marketing scam to get me for a few extra bucks. Either way they work well.

Wifey got me a kickass birthday present! Thanks for the suggestion @reywcms
Excuse the dirty truck pics. It needs a bath and new headlights…

RCI is having a 15% off sale - YES!

$500 to ship a set of sliders - NOPE!

Freight is nuts right now. I bought a set of CBI sliders in Summer 2018 shipped to Upstate New York for $190 and thought that was bad at the time.

Yeah, $500 was a nut-punch. If it was $200 I’d have bought them. Guess I need to just keep shopping…

Thank you! They are legit! I'm just itching to find something to strap down now. Could have really used them a month ago when I was moving.

Finally settling in to Richland OR. I miss Portland sooooo much. Really hard to go spend an hour fishing 5 min from the house and only have a single deer and 100s of arriving waterfowl as company....

We are certainly right on the border! It is unbelievably quiet. Elk, coyotes, and wolves are about the loudest things weve heard. Truely Gods Country as they say.

Got the Yotas a Korean friend this week too so now the fun really begins. Upland focused food plots here we come!

That's awesome!!! I'm not trying to get into your business or anything, but what brought you there?? Sounds like you've got yourself an awesome plot of land and plan on what to do with it. After more than 2 decades in Vegas, I don't think I'd be all that keen on the summer heat there, but that kinda of peace and quiet...

I was only ever in Portland for a job (8 years too long). I was actually poached by Next Adventure from my store in Cali while trying to make something work with a store in Boise. Love the Boise area but as its grown it has certainly changed, this offers all the outdoors stuff Boise does with less people and no throphy-state huge license fees for visiting friends. Anyway, the last 7 years i did all my non-coastal recreation out here so it really was just a matter of time before we ended up out here. The heat is no worse than East County San Diego where i spend my first 25+ years.

It is a very small and tight community which was a major attraction for us along with the idea that id rather live an hour from amenities and 5 min from recreation than the other way around. So far everything checks out as expected.

Pulse check: @memario1214 and I are brainstorming ways to lower shipping costs on sliders. Chime in if you might be interested in a group/bulk buy from Cali Raised.

This is not a formal commitment; just looking to gauge interest. It will require shipping all the sliders to one location so a short roadtrip might be needed for pickup.

Depends on when said group buy would be if funds would be available or not but I am interested.

Pretty sure it's the same frame, wouldn't think it would be an issue. But I've been wrong before.

Anybody BBQ with a Green Egg? I just got one and am looking for tips and/or tricks up here in our climate.

Edit: I have 30+ years BBQ experience. We had a Weber Performer Deluxe for about 12 years so lots of brick charcoal experience. Have had a Weber Genesis for the past 10 or so years, and for about half of them I used a Smoke Chief cold smoker with it. We also had a Traeger Silverton for a few years that we sold off last summer. So, I have lots of experience smoking meats. Just looking for tips and tricks specific to lump charcoal and the kamado type cooker.

Oh, we also have a Breville Smoking Gun to put smoke on meat before we sous vide and then reverse sear. If you have never tried that technique, you are in for a treat if you can.

Yuhp.... It definitely was a bit of an adjustment moving from Vegas to the Central Coast in terms using one of these, but I'm starting to get it figured out.

I'm no pro... But, you're welcome to hit me up a day or so before you're getting ready to cook something, and I'll give you whatever I can since everything requires a different approach/technique.

Also, Meat Church has some really good videos online, and I think the dude has a network series on netflix or one of those. He'll do examples of using smokers, charcoal grills and BGEs.

Sweet. Thanks. I did not know Meat Church did BGEs. I have a couple of their rubs in the pantry and my kid can't eat Mac N Cheese without putting Holy Gospel on it!

I am not sure if you are supposed to season it, other than the note not to go over 350 on the first cook to set the gasket. But, I am going to season it on Saturday and then to a spatchcock chicken on Sunday to start things off.

The Egg itself shouldn't need to be "seasoned", but if your grate or any of your accessories are cast iron, I could see you doing that. With that being said, I've had mine for over 15 years, so I'd definitely follow whatever guidelines BGE gave you for assembly and first cook/tempering, etc...

What are you running for a chimney vent and other accessories???

Helps you slide off rocks instead of them digging into your rocker panels. 99% of people that have them now days use as a step though and will never see a rock under them. They do make for awesome ding protectors in parking lots too though.

What is drawing you to these? Honest question.

The concern I have is that the inside bar doesn’t appear to be right under the body. If I’m riding rocks or even nasty soil, I want the soft metal protected. Maybe it is an optical illusion but I don’t want anything getting up between the bars coming off the frame and either damaging the truck or getting me hung up.

And if this isn’t a real concern, plz set me straight. Just thinking out loud here
