Where did you camp? We normally go to Lake Wenatchee SP but I think we are done with that location. Found a few federally run campsites SW of town that we are going to try out next time. Always looking for a recommendation!

That reminds me. When I was looking at the install instructions for any of those hidden/hybrid bumpers I think you have to completely remove this bar right?0024027C-C5A5-4098-888B-2023266359FD.jpgIs that the only crash protection for the front end? Cuz I feel like adding the bumper would then leave the corners unprotected as only the cosmetic parts remain.

Yep, out that way. We scoped them out a few weeks ago. They are FCFS, but it wasn’t very busy. Think next year we’ll head up there and get away from all the wally world campers at Lake Wenatchee.

See that black stamped steel piece at the end of the aluminum bar? That’s all that is supporting/“protecting” the corners now. The SSO has a brace piece from the winch tray to that stamped sheet metal that stiffens it up - in the factory design it’s just bolted to the crash bar.

as evidenced by hitting a deer at a speed that did not even trigger airbag deeply and my entire bumper and corners are caved in. I haven’t tried investigating deeper to see the condition of the aluminum bar, but my bet is that it is perfectly unscathed.

Okay, so the SSO ties into the two corner parts just like the bar. Noice!

I just looked at the specifications in this cooking utensil. Looking good, I’m going to add this the to list for next year, well, maybe sooner if a good deal comes up.

I looked at that brand but more than I need. This is a big upgrade form the $100 electric smoke I bought 4 years ago at Home Depot. Grilling chicken right now. Planning on pork shoulder this next weekend.

They seem to go on sale for holidays. They were on sale for Father’s Day even.

Went to the in-laws in Tillamook. There’s a section of road that has a steep roller. Had the old lady stand on the side to get some footage but first run she didn’t get and of course that would’ve been the one with more airtime. Tried again but traffic on this lone road was actually busy lol. Pretty interesting to watch it in slo mo and see it all move. It’s not dramatic but slight light on the driver front.

Your lady is pretty amazing with this project. Not only the cost, but the time you have into it. My wife gives me a lot of rope to run but if I asked her to “get out and take a vid” she’d Jackie Chan my ass out the truck (while still in motion) and never look back.

Ahha! She’s been great with all my builds she finally gets it’s a passion of mine. She’s slowly picking up the lingo which is fun to watch her explain stuff to people.

For sure. Getting into a GMG was a huge step for me and it was a great rig. I used the hell out of it for over 10 years, and have never had another grill last that long.

    @Green Thunder
The gray you can see in this picture is the aluminum crash bar
    5D2B7C65-74F4-46F7-A136-28AEBAC81225.jpg

Near as I can tell, it’s fully in tact and unscathed. But midpoint up the radiator there is a horizontal sheet metal cross bar that connects to a vertical one down from the hood latch. Both of those are FUBAR, as is the sheet metal piece that the top of the black plastic bumper attaches to and the bottom of the grill clips to.

We stayed at the Icicle River RV resort (we were on of those people, Ha!). Spots way too close together. We did drive up the Icicle road past where it turns to gravel. Believe we saw some of federal campsites you all speak of. They were full also. Most only had like 10 spots right on the river. The river was raging! First warm couple of days I think.

Sorry guys, popped on here last year before shit hit the fan at work and it got somehow even busier than it had been already with Covid pushing everyone into the outdoors.

Anyways had enough of the Rat race. Leaving Next Adventure behind and bought 5 acres in Eastern OR (Richland). Gonna take some time for me with the move before I go back to work. Plenty to do on the property and house, lots of fishing and hunting, and maybe i can get this damn tacoma back on the road too.

Finally hit some trails this morning. Lots of learnings and tweaking needed but it definitely performs. She’s a big girl trying to fit through these narrow pnw trails lol. Need to relocate the rear lower shock mount and do some trimming on the rear glass maybe dovetail cut etc.

Nope just flexing the suspension. With the long travel setup there’s a ton of articulation. The left front is up on the mound and the left rear in a hole (hard to tell on the pic) this forces the right rear up into the fender well.

    You just wait
If you actually are looking for mud flaps the OEM accessory ones were better quality than I expected them to be.
