Cubs lost- they honestly looked like a little league team playing that night. But neither team is one I care about - it was more about just going to see a game in Wrigley

Morning gents. Any Of you get a “Maintenance Required Soon” message on the center of the gauge cluster? It goes away soon after I start the truck and does not provide any additional info. App does not register any services needed.

Mileage is only 12,500. Already had two oil changes on the truck in 14 months of ownership since new. Last one was Jan at just under 8,000 miles.

Pretty sure that is the default 5k maintenance alert. Annoying AF. Not sure your can turn it off either, so just have to reset it.

    Yeah, agree.
The reset procedure should be in the manual. With my '17, you have to hold the trip button down while turning the key on or something.

Look in the manual. With the ‘21 there is a procedure you go through with the steering wheel buttons to reset.

Thanks guys! Was afraid I was going to need a dealer trip for more than an oil change.

Yup as others have said it’s counting down. As you get closer it gets more annoying. At first just when you start, within 500 miles you have to clear every time, at the 5k mark it’s on permanently.

Here is the procedure in video format

Trucks just telling you it’s getting close to the 5k maintenance setting (within 500 miles). Once you roll the 5k that will stay on.
You can reset it using the steering wheel controls on the right to go into the settings on your speedo cluster display and it’s in there somewhere

So I have ran 2 science experiments the last two days. Yesterday I did as close to 60mph all the way to work. No cruise control. 30.1 miles @16.9, this morning same route @17.1. I’m ready for some high 20’s!

Been raining since Thursday. Rumors say 5" of rain. Need to mow but can't with it this wet. Maybe Thursday on my day off if rain can hold off.

Just got same service soon message. I actually needed an oil change. But it goes off 500 miles before 5k service is needed. Depending on last oil change could just be a reminder that fluid levels need check and tire rotation.

That’s the annoying part of the alert. It’s basically just a “go spend money at your dealer” alarm. Very shady/sketchy practice from Toyota IMO. Especially since most people are not car people and will think something is wrong with the car.

My 2008 had essentially the same message. I thought all cars had that. It just says “maintenance required soon”

True, but 99% of the population will follow the recommended maintenance routine so the oil change will only happen every-other visit. The off cycles are pointless other than maybe the tire rotation
