Interestingly enough, my nokians are right at 50% tread and doing great in this stuff. Now I’ll have to go inspect the tread :monocle:.

Close. I wanted the Cooper Discoverer Rugged Trek, but they were expensive. Buddy has the Cooper Evolution M/T on his LC and was been very happy with their performance in the mud and snow. Since I had to buy five (upsized to 275/70 R18) I went with the Evolutions. Save about $200. They won’t last as long, but next time I only have to buy four.

The good news is that buying these tires now cuts my budget “ask” by a third when I head down to OR in April.

Now I just need to pick a bumper solution…

The cold had dropped my tire pressure by 5 degrees. Went out this morning and my other tires looked like they had a slow leak. Nearly chit myself.

    I have an experience that contradicts this;
About 45 years ago (I was a dumb kid in my 20’s) living in Tucson. Went to back my brand new truck out of the spot and drove the front right wheel onto a big spike. I just pulled it back in, jumped out and threw a short timber under the axle before it went down to the rim. Being a lazy slug, I didn’t change or fix it. Took my other rig to go camping that Friday. Came back Sunday afternoon and my truck was gone, stolen. I called the cops to file the report and found out they had my truck in the impound lot. It was abandoned in the middle of the intersection, a block away, with the flat tire! The thief didn’t even get a single tool. I did have to pay $125 fee to the impound lot, which I didn’t think fair.
Anyhow, the lesson learned is laziness can pay off really well!

We had another 6-8 inches of snow, so I shoveled the driveway. My neighbor took pity on the old fart (me) and shoveled a good portion of the drive last night without my knowledge. It helped, the damn snow was too much for one continuing effort. B4C2774E-A44D-4C93-BCEB-B4C3BB3D18B6.jpg

Same. I burrito’d myself in a warm blanket on a comfortable recliner and was out.

Now for a couple of ibuprofens and a runny egg over the leftover crab cakes!

We’re still in the 20’s this morning. Damn cold out. Hopefully everyone is off to a great start of the new year!
We got some bacon seeds planted this week. Should expect piglets around April

    Bacon Seeds. Love it.

We are in the mid-20’s right now, but it appears we are leaving the freeze this afternoon. Rain is approaching too…

Asked about this elsewhere and got no response.
Any suggestions for a survival radio?
I figure hand crank and solar power,
    Noah and coastguard channels,
    Ham frequencies and what else?

My gramps had an old hand crank NOAA radio, very reliable.
