I go to Wilsonville Toyota. I used to really like them. Then we had some serious problems. They seem to be doing better again which is nice to see. I don’t feel like going anywhere else as the other dealers are 30 minutes or more from my house.. or work.

    Gotcha.
They’d have to do some serious ass-kissing to get me back after the bullshit they pulled on my 2008 a few years ago. But it’s also a long drive for me to go there.
I used to go to Gladstone a lot, but also a long drive.

Yeah those would be crazy drives for you!
I was pretty furious after my lift/tire problem with them before this truck. But don’t have anything bad to say about them right now.
I used to try and only deal with one service advisor. Now it’s next to impossible with the revolving door of “customer service advocates” or whatever the heck they are. So now I just hope for the best till I am out of this lease then hopefully I have a good independent dealer just down the road.

Took the canopy in to AA on Friday so they could fix the forward window to close properly. They said they found a piece of fiberglass that wasn’t fully cut off and was throwing the alignment of the window off. Great news is the window opens and close properly now. Bad news is there’s about 1/8” gap at the top of the window that I can see outside. Don’t know if it was like this before but either way it’s no bueno.

I also asked them about the water that seems to be leaking in around every clamp. What I was told is that the newer trucks don’t seal as well because of the textured bed rails and that they all leak…..not sure about that one.

I would absolutely love this canopy if it worked the way it is supposed to. Instead the build quality has been disappointing and the amount of water that has been getting into the bed has been frustrating.

here are the pictures of the gap I noticed at the top of the forward window.

I hope everyone is having an easy and slow week before Christmas. It was a long day of travel with a 3 year old and a 14 month old, but it was worth it!

Time to shut down the work emails for 2 weeks.

This is frustrating, especially for what the canopies cost. I’m still chasing minor leaks in my ARE Z series, 4 years later. It seems like every winter, it’s a small leak somewhere else.

Could it be that they trimmed off too much of the fiberglass trying to fix the problem? The frame/rubber seal is supposed to clamp on the fiber glass surround to make a good seal. I would take it back to them again to get it fixed.

For water getting in at the clamps, it could be water getting in between the bed rail cap and the top of the bed rail. I applied a thick bead of silicon to the bottom of the bed rail caps before having the cap put on. Also requested for them to put 2 layers of the seal on the bottom of the shell because it will compress. Seems to have stopped any water from getting in that way.

So they didn’t actually trim any fiberglass when they fixed the window. They said they just took a chunk off that was cut at the factory but still attached by “a thread”. I stopped by today and showed them the window. He was very surprised and said they could probably fix it by repositioning the trim.
He also mentioned the bed rail/bed rail cap being a water intrusion issue for Tundras. Had I done more research and known I would have caulked it before hand too.
He said they will fix the window and lift the canopy to check the seal to bed rail cap interface for water next time I bring it in.

I need to figure out how to remove those bed rail caps. Maybe I can caulk them while they have it lifted.

    thanks for the advice @danz75
