Exactly. I mainly use it around the place here, which you have seen. But we’re living in a little valley in the forest, east of the coastal range, and frequently there’s trees down on the hiway after storms. I want to be able to clear the road

Looks like Warn does make their hidden bumpers/mounts in the US. The cross/baja bar is also low enough to avoid the sensor. That is good news.

So I could grab one at a local 4WP shop down there when I’m shopping. Would prob just get one of their winches at the same time so I don’t have to mess with fitment issues. I really like that idea…

Could even take it to my local Line-X shop for a proper treatment before install.

Yes, no coverage of that area of the bumper. Was looking at the SSO hybrid again last night. It does a really nice job of filling in the area between the front skid and the bumper as well. No more three plastic tabs connecting to the skid. I also like that it provides shackle points on the front versus the tow hooks. Might have to look at it a bit closer.

Reading all of this great info about @Green Thunder bumper/winch search and my experience with the pallet of pellets, has made me start thinking about my suspension because of the weight I've added (armor bumper and winch). I know TJ Jeeps, and can build one from the frame up because I've bought 3 of them stock and done all mods myself (including suspension lifts with belly tucks).....the Tundra....I'm a total NEWBIE. I guess I assumed, like a TJ Jeep, when a lift is added, it replaces the entire suspension system. Is that the case with our Tundras?

Buckle up, you are about to head down a rabbit hole with this one…

The common ways to lift the Tundra are new shackles in the rear and then new shocks with adjustable or fixed perches (not correct term) for the springs to sit higher. People also use spacers but those are usually not great for ride quality. Some also replace the rear spring packs which can give a lift without the shackle changes. Lots of different combos from there.

Edit: Once you get into a lift above 2” in the front replacement control arms can come into play. The Pros come with a 2” lift and use the stock arms (as far as I know) and people do go slightly higher with the stock arms. However, caster and alignment issues can start popping up around there.

Hmmm I'll need to crawl underneath and take a look at what they did. When I bought it, the 4" lift was already added, so I have no idea what type of lift was done. Mine is a limited but only a TRD Off Road, not a TRD Pro. So I'm assuming it was originally stock height?

Yes, would have been stock height.

In the Tundra world, if I were to upgrade my suspension lift; what are the brands I would look for?

Anyone used/interfaced with Wanderlust Overland in Portland by chance? They're a local SSO dealer. I traded a few emails with them and SSO today and both were very responsive. Nice first impression.

I have seen some people post about them on IG. Seems like a good shop based on what I have seen but no first hand experience. At this rate it sounds like you are going to make a lap around the entire PDX metro area picking up parts!

Three stops for sure. Four if you count a lunch/coffee meet up. Five when I stop at Ray’s estate.

Eibach was another name I’d seen recently in other threads. Never used them; couldn’t remember the name. Great timing @Kratos.

Tires are getting rare these days. Maybe half of the tires I was looking at last week on DT were back-ordered. Good luck!

Not a lot of Tundra reviews, but the Taco guys like them. US made with a great warranty, and they had them on sale. Figured they have to be heads and shoulders better than the black hitachi's on it now.

The local Discount has pretty good selection as long as I give them a week.

A guy on YouTube named Edward Shin used to have a Tundra build for overlanding. He used and recommended Wanderlust as a great shop. I’ll try to find the video.

I’m not looking forward to figuring out what to do when i need my TRD Pro Fox shocks rebuilt. If it’s indeed 50k miles, that’s gonna be just over a year from now

I called wanderlust for cab chop in the 4Runner. They were 2-3 times as expensive as everyone else. They seem to put out good work. Never had anything in there though. Couldn’t justify about $500.
