I couldn't get any pics of Ray's slow truck behind me because my rooftop tent is in the way.

Is there anything @gosolo can’t do?

Hunt, forage for mushrooms, cook, bake, forge his own implements.

I guess the only thing holding him back is the slow white truck.

You should be excommunicated for disrespecting the superior quality of super white trucks. White is known, and has been anointed for centuries as the color of purity, cleanliness, and righteousness.
Denial is not a river in Egypt.

 too bad the true bird dog couldn't be there the last day. She is still mad at me. But she is no longer limping, so I think the day off was the wise decision.

Hawaii trip almost went off without a hitch.

Flew into Seattle late last night, came back to the Sequoia with the notorious dead toyota battery. 24 months old, dead dead. Not even enough for a dome light. I have a jump pack, that didn't work. Some nice dude just getting off shift at the airport tried to jump us, nothing. Got a shuttle to our hotel around midnight to get some sleep. Shuttle back in the morning to try the jump pack after charging it all night, nothing. Taxi to Tukwila Costco and back for a new 27F, success!

I held my shit together through all that BS and my wife did awesome keeping the kids busy. Got home this afternoon, I'd say we won today. :muscleflexing:

Welcome back. You missed some good storms for sure. Good time to be gone.

Sorry to hear about the battery. I’d have gone into orbit. That’s a nut punch for sure.

Looks like it, shit strewn about and the kids playhouse was destroyed by the wind.

Yeah, I laughed at first when the fob didn't unlock the doors. It took a bit of Woosah to get through it all.

I had the same dead battery when I returned from a two week Hawaii trip two years ago. Battery was only a year old! I need to make sure it doesn’t happen again this year because the wife will not be happy if she is stranded with the 1 and 3 year old while I figure out how to get the truck running. Someone here on the forum suggested removing a certain fuse to eliminate anything such as the remote start (gps) from slowly draining the battery overtime. Maybe our local electrical guru, @RainMan_PNW would know what fuse would be best to pull.

That sucks man, having kiddos that young would make the situation even more shitty.

Both of our vehicles have Costco batteries now. For $100, they have really good reviews. Lifting battery cables is an option too, and would only take a couple minutes.

@APalmTree thanks for the tag. I'm in Vancouver. We occasionally sit on the deck and watch Portland burn itself down from across the river. ;0

Came back in from Canada on Monday. Wow, what a holy mess all you Seattlites and other northerners had to deal with. 250' of I-5 was washed out south of Bellingham. I made it through just a couple hours before the closed I-5 in both directions. At that time I had to drive through a 50' wide river of water 5-6" deep ripping across the southbound lanes of I-5. Lived here all my life and never seen anything quite like that!

I went to college at WWU there in Bellingham. That part of the highway washes out after nearly every big storm, but what came through last week was next level. Glad you made it through safely.

I’m heading north through Longview up to Ludlow tomorrow morning for my stepdads 80th birthday. Bringing all the stuff to make a nice big batch of clam chowder. Should be a nice drive. Thinking of heading west from Olympia and drive up along the hood canal. Always good to see family. At least 1 sister and 1 brother will be there too.

It’s the jumper pin. They remove it during shipping and storage. Alternately, you could disconnect the negative battery terminal.

It just occurred to me that I have a dash cam in my truck so I went out and pulled the card hoping to get some footage of that washout across I-5. Unfortunately after 5 more hours of driving back and a few more hours of driving since I've been back, the oldest video on the card has me coming through Olympia. Should have grabbed it earlier. It was pretty spectacular.

I was there in the 90s. Northbound washed out a few times. Don’t remember it ever getting to the southbound lanes. That is epic.

Ran some errands this afternoon. Picked up a standard exhaust off Offerup. Going to give it a try…I’m over the TRD drone. If it is too tame, then I have the piece needed for a DD in the future.

Headed out to Mule Expeditions next (they have a shop in OR too). All top shelf overlanding gear. They are the local rep for Schaeffers oil, so I was looking to pick some up for my next change and also drool on the gear. Prices were stupid, so I walked out empty handed. The aluminum flat-bed conversions had me shaking…so cool

    Here's an article.

Again really wishing I'd thought to save that section of dashcam video. I only have a still of one of the overloaded drainage culverts we all inched past. Driving through that kind of a river on an interstate freeway is not something you do every day, even in Washington.

What’s yer plan for the weekend?

I’m just running errands and getting ready for Thanksgiving. Keeping it low-key to recoup from last weekend.

Haven’t run the smoker in a few months. Tempted to get it out and make sure it still works. But what if that breaks it? Murphy is all up in my head right now.

Dunno yet. Rounding up what I need to cook/smoke the Turkey. Will be my first bird on the new grill, so interested to see how it goes. Might try to get to the range one day for some trigger therapy. I need to get all my stuff sighted in. And also need to finish up the Operation: Lego Inventory so I can get my workshop back

I broke my sliding glass door. It will be my project for tomorrow. Nothing like replacing a door/window in the cold. Hopefully it's goes quickly and smoothly. New door was delivered today. Got to love unexpected home improvement projects.

Speaking of unexpected home projects, not necessarily an improvement but necessary. The winds a few days ago resulted with a tree falling in the back yard. It crunched a few plants but missed a lot. Missed my portable backhoe, with only the branches’ tips hitting it. My wife found a crew 5:homes over the next day removing their tree. They came over and the 4 guys diced the tree, ground up the branches and stacked tha rounds. My wife convinced me with a few reasons to hire them, albeit expensive imo. Definitely saved me a lot of time and bodily pain….
