Agreed. I don't have anything against Payroll, but I got to play with HR on the regular when I was a manager. Not fun...

Anyway, Happy Friday everyone! Any big plans?

We are drying out here. Apparently got over 2" the past 24hrs. Just a weekend of errands and yard work for me. Youngest invited a new friend to come over on Sunday for candy hunting. Her parents are coming over too...so I'll have to be nice for once. Grrr.

In-laws just arrived so I have to be nice. Slowly going to put the house back together this weekend and then take the kids out for sugar hunting activity on Sunday.

Wait till they make us fill out a “not income tax” return and provide proof…

sent mine in to payroll last week and confirmed it’s in the system.

Built almost every home we lived in and we moved into them before they were complete most of the time. Unless you are sharing your goals and expectations it’s definitely a recipe for disaster. On the other hand, it’s what made it possible for us to get ahead.

My wife does the books for our church and church preschool - about 20 employees. I just asked her if she has received any new guidance from the state on how to do the LTC taxes… she said no, has “no clue” wtf to do. Apparently they have only provided the same info we all have but in a different Format. Classic cart before horse scenario.

I work for one of the largest employers in WA. I contacted the benefits team back in the April timeframe and they responded with "You're talking about the family leave act that passed two years ago...blah blah blah." After I dug out a link to the new law and told them they were wrong, I got sent to Payroll. Payroll responded with "that's the family medical leave act"...ignoring the entire "forwarded" portion of the email where I'd already proven this same argument wrong with the Benefits team. So I repeated the same info and even went into "bullet point" mode to spoon feed the idiots that cannot be forced to do their job. Two days later they responded with "We will look at this. Will benchmark what the industry does and then plan for the implementation". So I basically caught the entire team off guard...and here we are 6+ months later and they only started communicating a plan about a month ago.

I wrote that long rant to basically say...I feel bad for your wife. If a large company cannot figure this stuff out until their feet are held to the fire, I can only imagine what small companies and groups like Churches and food banks that are normally staffed by volunteers are doing. The worst part is the law is specifically written that the taxes must be taken out and any submitted to the state cannot be refunded back if withdrawn by accident. If the employer does it after receiving notice of exemption, they must refund the employee's money out of their own pocket.

    Ugh...so ugly

    What a mess.
I gotta give credit to the utility I work for, they sent out emails as soon as that program was declared.
They even gave us the step by step process to apply for the exemption.

Threw the kids and bikes in the truck for a little ride on this fine day.
I think I'll grab some brats and good beer while we're in town, then watch UW lose later.

Got the TRD Pro grill insert from MC auto installed today. After realizing the Platinum grill was body color I didn’t want to lose that. So I painted the honeycomb body color on the pro grill and painted the TOYOTA bronze to match my Methods. Pleased with how it turned out.4C1D1ABF-1750-4BC6-9657-F10A1120A3AD.jpg4F492A55-5CE3-403F-B458-ADB36A6357E5.jpg

I work for a large County and not only are they on top of it, they even made a deal with a private insurance company to get us a LTC option, and an automated submission form to turn in our forms. Sucks for @Green Thunder but at least he knows what to do.

That's cool. Yeah, I feel bad for the people that don't even know to this day that they will soon have another deduction.
My union was making the same deals for us but luckily my employer already provides LTC for almost nothing out of our pockets.

Trying to make up my mind for tonight. Informal poll: when taking the kids trick or treating, what adult beverage is in your insulated container of choice?
    A: beer
    B: hard cider
    C: mixed drink
D: hot cocoa with a shot or two of something

My strategy (whenever we lived where kids could get to the house) was to put an empty bowl out on the front porch with a sign that says,
    “please just take one “.

Then, turn off all the lights and go to bed
