I tried that route and got the evil eye. I have the habit of buying what I want, when I want it. Birthdays to me as an adult are just another day, but the wife loves to make a big deal. Apparently there’s a difference between me giving her a list and the boxes arrive in her name vs. me handing her the box.

 

Some happy news. Black Rifle Coffee is opening brick and mortar coffee joints. There will be one in Lewiston sometime in 2022.

I shall be visiting it soon after it opens. Maybe we can all rally there for a meet-up.

Think my wife said a dozen stores, most in TX, UT, ID, MT and a few other states that don’t smell like the west coast. I don’t understand the Lewiston location but maybe it has a very high membership to their coffee club.

I met @RainMan_PNW a few weeks ago. He hasn’t claimed I resemble anyone on the most wanted list…

Lewiston is a good location. Clarkston is across the river. And Pullman and Moscow are close as well. Plus Lewiston makes a shit ton of ammunition, so maybe a correlation.

 

You’ve got Seekins, Nightforce, and a whole pile of other boutique high-end manufacturers in that area. Wouldn’t surprise me if there’s a tie there.

Oh, so that’s the reason. I had no idea all of that was made there. Boom (haha). Well I bet it will be a good store then.

Wonder if Nightforce as an outlet store. I could use a few blems at a nice discount

 

CCI is based in Lewiston. Freedom Munitions is there too. NF is just east a bit. Yeah - Lewiston’s a bit of a “sleeper cell”

 

Buddy of mine works for Freedom Munitions. He works on the machines as a maintenance guy. He loves it. He used to be able to get us good prices on .223 and a few other calibers. They stopped doing that a few years ago after they got some new contracts. Those were the days though.

 

Lewiston is sounding better and better for a meet-up.

Yes. Some pay to camp spots locally. Chief Timothy is in Washington on the snake river. About 5 miles from Clarkston. There is also a state park south of Lewiston on the snake river. Then there are a few areas around with 40-60 miles. On the Washington side there is the Grande Ronde, Field Springs State Park, or Umatilla National Forest, both within 30 miles. Also if you have a discovery pass or hunting parking permit, there are good spots up Asotin creek just before the National Forest. In Idaho there are spots in Winchester, moose creek, elk river, and I am forgetting the name, but a reservoir lake spot. There are spots all along the Snake river, but they are tent camping only. And hard to come by as all the locals get there early.

Grande Ronde isn't TT friendly either where I go.

 

I need to get this thing set up with offroad tires, 2 spares and some solar to feel a little bit better where I plan to explore. Possibly torsion axles in the future.

The dip in the asphalt makes the rear end look a little saggy, it rides nice and level.

 

Just added Lewiston to the short list of locations to consider for retirement.

Oh, I like the way you think. I’ll drag my trailer too and we can boondock. I drove thru there a few years ago and the road on the WA side that goes south into OR has some amazing areas to camp.

Growing up, we anyways called Lewiston the armpit of Idaho though. Between the paper mill there and how it sits down in the river gorge, it can get a bit odiferous. Hotter than hell in the summer too.

We noticed the same smell around the Castlerock/Kelso area.

 

That is the smell of money. Or at least that is what my dad used to tell me. Grew up in a paper mill town in WI.

 

there's two mills in Longview (basically Kelso). Our company HQ is there.

Did you take the snake river road or the highway to Troy and heading towards Wallowa?

 

No hotter than most of Eastern Washington. Smell can get bad, especially with a backwards wind or when it is just stagnant and mills in the valley, usually bad in fall/winter when fog just settles.
