Now I'm leaning towards holding off on lift and tires for a while. I feel like that would open up a can of worms if anything else were to happen or the sound comes back.

I know how you feel. I don’t like the idea of messing with something that could be a warranty issue later. But on the other hand I don’t like the idea of driving a truck for 3 years that is not setup the way I really want it. Found myself at a shop yesterday talking to them about suspension upgrades.:spending:

Yeah what's making the itch even worse is I have the 6112s, 5100s, shims, rims and tires all on hand already. I just need to set my appointment and take it in.

This is sounding like the seat cover “saving seats” conversation earlier in this thread.

    I vote install!

Just got off the phone with All American. They called Snugtop for an update on my canopy and Snugtop said another 3-4 weeks. All American said to just realistically expect 4-6 weeks. Judging on the past few years, shouldn't get too much rain before then.

I had another Lunar Rock Tundra pass me this morning on I-5 just before the Columbia River Bridge. I was jumping off the SR-14 exit, and he went by in the left lane. He gave a wave and I threw him the shaka.

Oh - and I did see a LR Taco sitting on the lot at the Toyota dealer in Chehalis on Thursday on my drive home. It was the only Taco I saw on the lot (the only Tundra looked to be about a 2015 used one).

I would. My Ford had issues with a vacuum leak in the 4wd system. Dealership first said my front end level wouldn’t cause a problem, then when they couldn’t find the issue they blamed it. Spent $300 to remove it and had to go more rounds again with the dealership. Total nightmare.

I’m not saying wait forever, but I would want to be confident it is fixed. Thankfully you already have the paperwork started.

That part doesn't fit our truck.

Now I'm getting frustrated, hate when I can't figure this stuff out! I looked up that part and it's discontinued and won't fit our year truck, and I don't see any differential part described as "dust cover". The only dust cover I can find is for the drive shaft where it mates with the differential. Maybe that's it.

Hoping one you might know this for sure if you have had your tires replaced. Are the valve cores for the TPMS anything special (seal, metal type, etc.)? Or can I pickup a couple at a tire shop?

I want to have a couple in my truck tool bag with my other tools. Like to be prepared.

Whelp, I got pissy for no reason. The rain skipped around me today. I even got a layer of sealant on the windows and plastic trim. Now all that’s left is some winter washer fluid…

It is confusing because it still shows the part and is the same diagram but supposedly the part only fits 2013 and below. Not sure whats going on. But this is the part I'm talking about. I should have asked for the part #. The other forum member who had the same issue just had his replaced by his dealer yesterday but he didn't get a part number either.Screenshot_20210911-075157_Chrome.jpg

The stuff I use in the summer is good for bugs, but doesn’t have a low freezing temp. So I rotate in the “cold” stuff this time of year.

Crap, I need to change my air filters too

Looks like I caught everything but a murder hornet. Think I need to change the filter every 6 months instead of annually.
    9492EF60-7554-40A7-A889-2217848FE61D.jpg

Did the engine filter as well. It looked nearly new, but changed it anyway.

While I was in there I decided to yank out the engine fart filter. Was thicker than I expected and held to the sun it looked half blocked. Lame. I’m sure it’s all mental, but the truck seemed to pull a bit better. Especially at freeway speeds. Normally a full-throttle pull feels like I’ve got a small parachute on the back. Not any more…

That's filthy. I wonder if they make a better filter (hepa) for that, I'm able to buy those for my wife's mini cooper.

I think one of the big aftermarket brands makes one with a charcoal filter, but I haven’t seen a hepa. Don’t know if something that fine would work with the current fan. Might not be free-flowing enough.

@RainMan_PNW might know…could you just slap a hepa filter into the mix and have it work?

There’s a filter after the engine filter (on the “clean” side) that is apparently there to help catch fuel vapor or something like that.

I think it is a carbon filter. I think @RainMan_PNW notes in his build thread that he yanked it too.

Just finished washing the truck again to get rid of all the ash droplets. Having the appropriate beverage helps things go smoother.

Even out of focus the truck shines!
The bev looks delicious. Wife is making a batch of G&T’s as I type. I spent the better part of the day sanding and painting four doors. Just walked the dog and my knees are informing me there will be no more walking today without liquid medication.

Seems like bosch or someone makes a HEPA filter for the Tundra. I’ve typically used the inexpensive charcoal ones from Amazon and changed them every 15k miles (which is 6-8 months for me).

Yeah - it’s an active charcoal filter that is part of the emissions system. It’s plastic welded into the top of the air box lid. It was one of the first things I removed on my 2008, and did the same on the 2021. Just one less thing to restrict air flow…

Spent the day organizing and cleaning the basement/workshop. Think I’ve got 30 gallons of misc old paint to get rid of, and a ton of other shit. Gotta run to the recycle/waste place tomorrow and then hopefully plow through the rest of it…
