Might be enough to get my kids (18 & 20) through the knothole for now. Hate to see them stuck with this Bill the rest of their WA state lives…

I grew up in N Idaho (left 24 years ago for love and work). CA refuges isn’t anything new - it’s been happening since before I was born. The fervor has increased recently, but most of the state has been harboring people trying to escape for as long as I can remember.

Assuming the “not income tax” rate doesn’t change…

Really hoping my work's long term care qualifies for an exemption.
I'd love to move to ID or MT but my job there would pay a lot less.

We've also been considering moving to the CDA Idaho area, but housing costs are getting pretty crazy there now. We were looking about 3-4 years ago, and for what we could sell our house for in the Portland metro area we could get a larger house on acreage and put money in our pocket. Now it's just as expensive or more than it is here—just nuts.

Oh come on, be positive. The plan is good; no tax rate increase will ever be needed. :D:rolleyes:;)

This is what I am experiencing also. Nobody offering policies. Maybe 2022. I read one article that said insurance companies got flooded and just can not keep up. Ugh

Need to write your reps… I think they are really getting flooded with emails over this. The deadline is looming unless the legislature changes it or the exemption rules.

Check weather: Possible rain on Sunday
Washed and waxed the truck tonight since there’s plenty of time for it to cure.
    Check weather: Frickn rain TOMORROW!

Washed the truck and then last night the rain knocked the smoke out of the air. :frusty:

There is something almost unnatural how rain follows a clean truck.

Oregon and Washington are too similar. No thanks. Idaho has better hunting with more public land to access.

I got the truck back yesterday. Here is a synopsis of what the dealership said:
They worked their way down the driveline with lithium grease to locate the squeal. Sure enough it was the rear diff dust shield, same as another forum member. They somehow were able to look at it and see it was not damaged or out of round, but dry. They lubed it up and the noise is gone...for now. The lead service tech at the dealership told me the Toyota field tech has only seen this on a 4 Runner before. It was over a year ago and his Squeal never came back after applying the Toyota lithium grease. If it starts up again they said to bring it back and the dust shield will have to be replaced.

As the owner of the truck I'm not sure this is the real solution as much as it is a band aid, but I'm still hopeful it will be fine. I'm not super eager to have the rear dif opened up but I also want the problem ACTUALLY fixed. Hopefully the grease was enough, but I have my doubts. For now the truck is squeal free and I am enjoying having it back. The Tacoma loaner they gave me was TINY inside.

I've been thinking about Idaho too, but have not actually looked or put resumes in. Fishing for SST probably isn't as good but at least they're there. I hear mixed reviews about the hunting. Not sure what opportunities there are tech wise.

Fishing is good in Idaho. Clearwater runs into the Snake, lots of stealhead and Salmon. Southern Idaho has good trout fishing. So good they actually have lots of fish worth money because there is to much trout they are squeezing out other species. Look up South Fork trout fishing. Cash prizes from 50-1,000$

I’d be leery too of that fix, but at least they did a good job of isolating the issue. Sucks when it (may) take a few trips to resolve. Dealerships have their hands tied sometimes when it comes to what the OEM will reimburse for warranty work. I hope it all works out…

Yes I am definitely cautiously optimistic. On one hand "they slapped some grease on it and called it good"...on the other hand I am not anxious to open up the rear diff. So trying this first seems okay to me. Hopefully it fixes itselfo_O:cool:

One good thing is that has now established a paper trail so if you have an issue in the future there hopefully be less haggling over what needs to be fixed, etc.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that I bet it's fixed. I looked up the diagrams for the diff and I don't see a dust shield, so it can't be a critical moving part. Like Dan said it's documented now, and you have a lot of time before your warranty expires. Maybe have them relube it on one of your major service appointments.
