I agree that it's not related to RPM's, so a heat shield vibrating sounds plausible. If that's it, it's either loose or rubbing on something and WD40 won't fix it. I'd crawl under there and feel around a bit with the shields, might be an easy fix.

2"CB shackles, bushings and 1 shim, lockerdown console vault, rear folding seat back mod, snugtop shell with opening side windows, 46g fuel tank, SDHQ sliders and hidden winch, Decked Drawers, Alcan leaf springs and got rid of the interior chrome
    A simple way to check and see what the problem is;
Jack up the entire rear of your truck, getting both wheels off the ground.
First, get under there and manually turn the drive shaft while you look and listen.
If you don’t see or hear anything…
(Insert here: solidly supporting the rear axle and with redundant blocking)
Start the truck and put it in gear. Repeat the search.
I have had to do this with all 4 wheels off the ground (not a tundra), and try in and out of 4x4 to diagnose a problem.

Definitely not just you. The front end proportions look similar to the current Titan, which totally ruins the look in my opinion.

Just strange. Maybe my audio is off, but doesn’t sound like a heat shield rattle. My other guess was a bearing, but that doesn’t seem like a solid fit either.

Make sure you are there to drive with the Tech. You can drive and they can focus on the troubleshooting

Now that I listened to it again, it sounds like that polishing tool they use on your teeth at the dentists.

If you listen closely at the beginning of the vid, it starts out completely silent and then there is distinct "click" when it starts up.

I'm almost certain it's the same issue another forum member is dealing with- a bad dust pinion seal/shield or rear diff dust deflector. It's definitely not a heat shield, rear brake shields and rotors are free and clear, doesn't have the clicking of a bearing. I listened to his audio video and it's the EXACT same noise. I think he said the dealership narrowed it down to the dust seal by spraying WD on it and the noise went away for a while.

Yes I have been hearing what seems to be a faint click or knock before it starts up.

haha no clue! I watched a few videos and looked at some images. I believe they have to pull the driveline and remove the nut that puts pre tension on the pinion gear, which is a bummer.

Do you have a GoPro by chance? Could mount it down by the rear diff and get better audio

Yeah I did that with my 2002 limited that had a popping noise I chased for 5 years and never did find.

It's a good idea to do it again, even if just for more info at the dealership.

It was a painting weekend for me. Gotta do the interior doors next weekend…

Anyone sell stuff on OfferUp? If you’ve got something posted I need to test my messenger system. I’ve pinged over a dozen people and zero replies so far.

Night 6 of 6 for us.
KOA in Castlerock, probably won't return here but for a last minute booking I'll take it. According to the locals there are several longterm campers here that cashed in on the housing bubble with nowhere to go. It's got that vibe, oh well..
Just poured a cocktail, waiting for it to cool off and I'll light a fire.

This was last night for all you picture whores like myself. :D

I don't feel I've narrowed things down with this, but here is the undercarriage video of the noise.

    https://youtu.be/tif0-m4CN7k

    https://youtu.be/BbWbFs-cPKc

I'm taking it to the dealership tomorrow morning. A little nervous about the whole situation on a brand new truck. On the other hand I'm glad it happened before the lift, wheels and tires went on. Nothing I've done yet should be an issue.

I’d be all kinds of rage, but chit does happen. The good news is it appears to be very repeatable. The GoPro confirms it’s coming from the diff area, so that should help the Tech.

And you are right, better now than after all the suspension mods. That kind of stuff gives dealers a reason to avoid work

While we all wait for a sitrep from @TunsAFun, I’m happy to report I got my OfferUp account fixed. Thanks to generous help from @InTheRough, I/we were able to confirm my messages were not going thru. Tech Support confirmed my account was “locked” (no reason given) and promptly fixed.

There are two things I’ve been trying to buy all summer. One was a Camp Chef burner cooktop. The other was a Tundra exhaust take-off to replace the drone-filled TRD. Scored a great deal last night on a Camp Chef…now just need someone to post an OEM exhaust!

Looking for the whole thing. The TRD is fun around town, but the drone drives me nuts. Especially when I’m towing. Rumor on the forum is the exhaust also robs a bit of power, so a quieter cabin and more power is a good thing.
