Nice! My last business trip before COVID shut everything down was a quick trip to Germany to tour the Porsche factory and museum. Such a cool brand. The 911 lineage is really amazing, instantly recognizable no matter the year.

    That’s right.
Keep going south to Salem (if you’re already in Portland) and there’s Capitol Toyota there.

My dad had a 63 Vette but it was the split window coupe. He was a member of SCCA in CA and used to tell me stories about racing other members across the Golden Gate Bridge. Unfortunately he wrapped the car around a telephone pole but walked away. This was when I was not yet around.

Not surprised. I believe that was the first and only year of the spit window.

Next time I am up by you I am going to skip the Tacoma car museum and just visit your garage!

Watched two video reviews of the Tundra tonight, chomping at the bit to get behind the wheel. This waiting game is for the birds :boink:

I don’t “wait” well either. Especially for new toys and when chit doesn’t arrive when promised.

I’d hate to be in the market for a new vehicle right now. Everything is just twisted.

Yeah, at work both Ford and Dodge have closed their orders for 2022 fleet trucks. Ford gave two-days notice before closing theirs.
Construction material commodities are all over the map. And big companies planning major construction projects are pre-buying production to ensure they have materials. Stainless is off the charts, certain plastic pipes are hard to find. Google and Facebook have each placed orders for unistrut that will tap factory production for the next 12-16 months to use in new data centers, Intel is changing the rack designs in their fabs to use tube steel instead of strut to overcome shortages, and has pre-purchased the next 18+ month’s world supply of resin used for lining their acid exhaust ductwork in preparation for several large expansions

Panic buying going on again. Witnessed a few people with loaded carts of TP and water and my 2 local to me Costco's are out of TP again. Also Fred's was cleaned out of bottled water, did I miss a memo?

    FYI

We are still facing issues with suppliers from Texas as they are still working to recover from the issues they had when everything froze. Coupled with COVID staffing they have had a very slow recovery.

    I had three choices:
    - Pay more than MSRP for a 3+ year old truck
    - Pay 5-10k over MSRP for a new one on the lot
    - Order and wait
    :(

Seriously? The panic buying was funny 18 months ago when Covid first hit. Strange that people are reverting back to TP and water...who doesn't have an extra case of TP and paper towels in their garage by now?!

Ouch...strange that Toyota has seen inventory shortages since they just announced this past week that production will be cut back as their "storage" of chips is now depleted. But I guess the dealership inventory could have been hit by new Toyota buyers needing a car.

But yeah...I'd order and wait as well. I hated paying MSRP for my Pro but that was the market condition for it back then. Over MSRP is nucking futs.

You just have to be patient. Took 9 months, but I got my pro for 2k under MSRP. Just got to find a dealership willing the play ball.

You did good, but I think the days of getting a Tundra under MSRP are over now. I called every Dealer in the state, and none would negotiate. Although I was offered a Tacoma at 3% off.

Yes, I got my pro 6 months before covid. Everything is super inflated right now. It's nuts.

Well, we already covered I don’t do “patience”. LOL. But I was in rage mode on my F150 and needed to dump it.

On paper I paid MSRP on my Pro, but the dealership gave me $1,500 over market for my trade and my lockbox for $300 off the catalog price. So I could argue that in reality I got a decent price. Especially since it took the dealership 4 months to unload my old truck and last I checked they had it at a “on sale” price below what I paid.

I’m laughing now just thinking about it…it will be two years in October and I’ve never known a life of truck ownership that didn’t involve regular trips to the dealership for warranty work.

Hearing all the stories from “domestic” truck owners, I feel blessed the first truck I ever owned myself was my 2008 Tundra. I put 400k miles on various work trucks prior to that (which were very well maintained by our company mechanics and I never had any major issues), but owning my own and having to pay for my own upkeep and repair I’m glad I bought that first Tundra.

And when they gave me Private Party bluebook for trade-in, I didn’t have any issues with the fact I paid “only” MSRP on my Pro last October. Hard to believe I’m almost 10 months into ownership now.

It is nutty. All my trucks from Ford and GMC were service queens. My Nissan and Acura did better, but still had an issue or two. It’s such a waste of time and money for both parties.

I’m pretty much Toyota or nothing at this point.

^^^ Those are the reasons that I chose Toyota over any of the others. I've never owned a Toyota, but I'm a research nut and that's why I'm here.

I really hope yours is as good as mine. If we could only find a dealership with a service center as good as the product they sell!
