Base MSRP is 51k if I'm not mistaken on a 4R Pro.
With the Costco program I would hope to come in a little under 50k.

man, a pro is buku bux. I guess they were supposed to add kdss to the pro, but never did for some reason, so a lot of folks have been bypassing the pro. And having followed your build for a while, orp might be a better choice anyway.

Given the surprise baby and wanting an suv my gf is comfy driving(because of kdss), i retroactively made all the right decisions trading from taco to tundra to 4runner.

where is a toyota dealer accepting costco deals right now?

i am pretty sure a pro t4r is as rare as a Tundra trd pro so they wont accept costco discoonts, but if im wrong i will happily admit it and then call that dealer up.

Not right now, sorry. That's just my hope on a '22 4R Pro next spring.

kdss on a pro won’t work due to the Fox shocks. Kdss requires it’s own suspension setup. It is possibly a benefit if you know what your end goal is before you buy the 4R(like not going to lift it). With that said though I believe there are now some kits that work with kdss, but not as many.

Congrats on the baby. Your gf will be plenty comfy with or without that kdss. They ride awesome.

    My thoughts are:
    • If you want a 4R (or whatever) go get it. Life is too short.
    • I don’t think Toyota is going to chit-da-bed with any of the new motors they might release in the coming years on any platform. Maybe wait a few years to let the bugs get worked out.
    • Turbos are awesome. The Ecoboost in my turd-150 was epic. More power, endless low-end torque and better mileage is great; don’t fret the cylinder count. The future, even with hybrid systems, is going to be good.
    • Not getting into politics…I personally think the general public will be very turned-off to normal ICE motors in next next 5-10 years. I also expect fuel prices to continue to rise. So from a cost to own and resell-value perspective, I think anything non-hybrid will be of limited value in 10+ years.

I’m 6’5”. I have more room in my 2021 Tundra than I did in my 5th gen (2011) 4Runner. Both selected specifically so that I could fit in them. Always get models without a moonroof!

I had a 1998 Tacoma that was a good fit, too, but somewhere they changed it, and the headroom in them has been terrible for over a decade.

I need to have more faith in Toyota coming up with reliable turbocharged engines on the new platform. If anyone has a shot at it, it's them. A 4R with a turbo does sound like a fun time

Financially, it would make more sense to wait a few years with the money I've spent on the Sequoia this year. The suspension and front end refresh will come out to around 3.5k including new wheels. I won't feel too bad about letting it go 3-4 years from now.

Your probably right on the ICE's, unfortunately.

Noted. I’ll pass this along to said tall friend.

I on the other hand will most likely not grow the required 5.5’ish inches to achieve such height. So I will continue to seek out models with sunroof’s as I like to make sure my head has time to get sun while I sit in traffic.

Yeah I've got tons of leg and headroom in the Tundra. The 04 Sequoia has plenty of headroom with a sunroof, legroom could be better.
Good tip on the 4R. :hattip:

one additional tip: at least for the 2011 4Runner (though 2010-present is the same basic model)

I sat in both electric and manual seat adjust models, thinking the manual seating would adjust lower due to having no motor. I was wrong. The driver’s auto adjustable seat definitely went lower than the manual adjust, with more headroom. No moonroof with auto-adjust seat was my combo for max headroom

See now your thinking. It’s like added headroom with a roll cage for your dome. And you can toss a footlocker up there.

If for the 4R the answer is yes. Gobi makes one. They are hella spendy though.

Edit: if for your Tundra…I hear Victory makes a roof rack

This info is gold, do you know of a model that has power pass seats without a sunroof? The trifecta tall guy combo! When my wife is driving I wouldn't want my head cranked into the corner.

I don’t know current offerings, but ours didn’t have this full trifecta... our 4Runner had no moonroof, auto driver seat, manual passenger seat. Same as our 2021 Tundra. However, the manual passenger seat in the 2011 4Runner was only slightly elevated, whereas the manual passenger seat in the Tundra seems more elevated by comparison. In both cases I was the primary driver, so didn’t worry as much about the passenger seat, sorry! All of my rigs (1998 Tacoma, 2001 Tundra, 2011 4Runner, 2021 Tundra) have been SR5 with minimal packages, and I would’ve gotten both seats auto adjustable if readily available without moonroof. This combo may not exist

Gotcha, yeah I would think if there is a trim level with both power seats a sunroof is probably standard.
    Thanks again.

It’s kinda complicated. The builder tool on the website helps a bit. It will also depend what seat fabric you want. Fabric you could do an SR5 and I think a TRD OR(not premium) and maybe others. Premium trim moonroof is standard if I remember right, other trims it’s an option.

So, the road i was supposed to drive tomorrow has a 3 hour window of being open... And it's a shared single lane between North and South bound traffic.

My wife discovered it late last night looking at things to do with the kiddos. Swallowed the hard pull and drove the entire way today (8'ish hours) when we told the boys it would only be 2 since the road workers didn't work today.

Kids were great sports about it though. We stopped and did go-karts and bumper boats since we couldn't make a dune buggy tour work out.

We have to drive the same road back though on Thursday and now have to leave at 5:30 am to avoid the cutoff.
