I was thinking the bare aluminum. Should I be worried about galvanic corrosion on the bare aluminum with the steel bolts?

In our area (minimal salt use), probably not. A neoprene or nylon washer under the flat washers would isolate things pretty well, or some stick on UMHW trimmed just at the bolt holes.

Kinda, except no requirement to wear funny clothes. It has gotten me to try sour beers which I had never tried before and this concoction. Not sure I am sold yet but the salt would be good on a margarita.

Placed the order for the bare aluminum in 1/4”. Now play the waiting game for them to fab a d ship. Gives me some time to source the TRD skid and figure out to explain the purchase to my wife.

How is your progress? I’m slowly making it through the stall but still have almost 20 degrees to go and about 4 hours before we are supposed to eat.

Well funny story. I just about had to go to the ER. I was putting my Queso on the Traeger with the pork butts. I was shifting the Queso and dropped my thermo pen. Unknowingly I flinched to catch it with my thigh against the front shelf of the grill. It was open and fell point down like a lawn dart. I caught it IN my quad about 3-4”. It almost went all the way into my leg. Luckily I didn’t hit a vein or an artery. Now I’m limping around like a dummy with the a new story to tell.
The butts are at about 165. Now I’m switching to my Traeger probe. Im bout to go stir the Queso so I’ll snap a picture.

    edit to add pic:

I think you left out the most important detail…what temp was the leg muscle running when this occurred. I mean as long as it’s in there, you checked the reading right?

You guys are hilarious! I didn’t take a picture. I should have. It was open and on but I couldn’t read it from my angle.
It was like that scene in Mr Deeds where Adam Sandler has the butler hit him in the feet with the fire poker then he yells at his feet to freak out the butler…but he still can’t feel a thing.

However walking is not real fun right now. I have a bbq to get to at 5:30. Drinking started early. Little peroxide for good measure for right now. Then I’ll address whatever needs to happen tomorrow

Wow! Nothing nearly that exciting here!

Currently at 191 degrees and guests will be here in an hour so I think I’ll be okay.

If yours has been on for around 14hrs your probably ok as long is it’s tender. I’m trying a new method. Malcolm Reeds latest. After 14hrs(or 190) you can pull and shred. It should be on long enough to still be tender without going to 203’ish. But either way I’m sure your going to be good time wise. I’m getting nervous but still have a couple hours to go till we have to make the four block drive to our friends house. Haha
Ironically today was supposed to be a leg day. I have been having weird hip/quad pain in that leg so I just did warmups and decided to just call it for today. Really tired after yesterday.

Probably low risk of tetanus from either pork butt or queso being injected into your thigh

I have the steel from Desert Eagle. Heavy AF, but solid. Had they had an AL option, I probably would have gotten it.

One interesting side effect…I think my tranny temps are running 5-10 degrees warmer now. Restricted airflow.

I’ve git tomorrow off thankfully. Headed home early to avoid the traffic. There’s some construction on I-5 that bottlenecks down to two lanes and it will be bad.

The wife and just got back from a week up in your area. We avoided the warm temps here in NorCal and headed up 101. Stayed all along the coast M-Th since you guys were having a heat wave as well. I gotta say, I really enjoyed Oregon. All the beaches along the highway that we went to were amazing. Temps were in the low to mid 60's. It was really nice. Wouldn't mind possibly moving to that area once I retire.
It was so calm and relaxing..............and then we went to Seattle. lol
The big city was a drastic change of the few days before, but the Space Needle was pretty cool. Temps were low to mid 80's, so not to bad.
Spent 12 hours on the 4th driving back to the heat at home. I miss the Oregon coast already.
This was my first time in both these fine states. Only got flipped off once in Washington. I expected more of it with Cali plates. :D

Yes, it has been hot. Let me be the first Oregonian to welcome you if you decide to relocate on retirement. I highly recommend you toss the Cali. plates before you reach Ashland

Working on the repaint of my towing mirror caps. The first time around I just bought Duplicolor in Toyota Silver at Autozone figuring it would be close enough. However, the silver was just not a good match, too yellow. Also, my paint job was pretty bad as I painted them when it was too hot so the paint flashed a bit and was not smooth. Not seeking body shop perfection but also not looking for an orange peel look!

Earlier today I popped them off and then wet sanded them all to prep for fresh paint. This time I bought paint and clearcoat from Automotivetouchup.com for the silver sky metallic. I am also priming the back this time so I get better coating at the edges of the caps. Letting that dry now so I can start the finish coats of silver. I will also wet sand between coats of needed, something I did not do last time.

Oregon coast is beautiful. We like to go in the summer for a cool off as well. East side of Washington and Oregon gets a lot hotter than the coast. Next time you're up, check out north Idaho. Another cool spot in the PNW.
