It is amazing how quiet my neighborhood is right now. Normally you can hear some kids playing, a lawn mower or two and lots of birds. It is stone silent. If it wasn’t for the distant freeway noise it could be a snow day. Well, the freeway and the stifling heat.

Same here. I’ve got sprinklers going on all the flowers and pollinator plants in my yard, but there are no other sounds out there.

Went for a walk at 8:30 am, put some new soil on some new grass to help hold some moisture, then had BBQ going for chicken breasts at 10am. Stayed inside and had an early gin and tonic. My portable AC units are having a hard time keeping house cool, 81 inside but 107 outside (maybe more). 03681DF5-5255-4049-800B-DF251B82A074.jpg

81 is quite warm, but it would be a lot worse if you didn't have the portable ac units. Stay safe in this heat.

Probably for the best. I am wondering if softball will get cancelled. Shows 114-116 depending on weather app for Tuesday here.

:eek2: Just looked and realized it says 113 for tomorrow now.

At least they canceled practice today for tomorrow.
Tomorrow’s workout in the garage will be fun. Should be like at least 120+ in there.

Thanks, yea we are lucky to have them. Next to the ac it’s cooler…. I hope the power grid stays up.

Yeah I’m sure it is. Apparently there was a referee shortage this morning and that was part of it.
Hopefully if softball is canceled you at least get a notice.

Next tournament is in Bend. Hopefully they get all their games there.

I hope it's cancelled. I really don't want to play in this heat. It's no fun for anyone when it's that hot out. Bend is a nice place, hopefully they get to play all their games there.

Well it was painful… As a professional planner/scheduler, the lack of a plan was overwhelming and frustrating. We got her moved in about 4 hours (about 2 hours longer than it should have taken). In the end, that’s what family is for. Sitting at home in my 70 degree house. I’ll sleep hard tonight. Stay cool everyone.

I get the whole that's what family is for. But I can't do it anymore with my Aunt. She lives in a house that is going to be taken down for this new highway 12 project in Walla Walla county. She has known this for 3+ years. My dad is trying to get them motivated to move out and soon otherwise he won't be able to help as he is going into harvest soon. They finally have a house to move into, but there is no motivation for them to do anything. My dad is getting frustrated as he is trying to help. He is conning me into helping. Even saying he will pay me. I flat refuse to help. They are hoarders. They have no motivation to do anything on their own(within their physical limitations mind you, if it was just picking things up and moving them would be one thing). But I am not cleaning, painting or doing anything else they are using as an excuse to hold off on moving stuff into their new house. I barely have time to take care of my own place let alone try and do everything for them. They have 3 kids that can help. But even their kids don't want to help them. When it comes to crunch time and they are asking if they can use me and my truck I am just going to laugh and say no thanks.

Ugh. Moving. It's the worst. I let my FIL borrow my truck in Thursday to move a patio set and it came back with a scratch on the bed... That I had fixed a month ago.

Time to visit the body shop on Tuesday to get it fixed. :(

I remember being drafted for a church group moving a young family. Everything was supposed to be boxed and ready, just load up the trucks and unload em at the destination.
There was clothes still in hanging in the closet and dishes in the cupboards AS WELL AS THE SINK! I kept my mouth shut and took care of it but I didn’t think that plan was very well managed.

Well you remember me bitching about cleaning my cousins place last year and how hopeful they'd sell me their property? It's their parents. Complete disaster places. I love them, but I'll be damned if I'm doing free labor because they are to lazy to do stuff themselves anymore.

I seen that. Sucks, but they were warned multiple times about politics. Kinda how I miss having Panda around that was banned 1-2 years ago.

    Yeah, totally get it.
Just a bummer, PHM is a parts guru and has helped me out several times.

I recall seeing Panda post when I first joined (maybe before, during creep mode).
