Have your tried Cosmic Banditos yet? The marshmallow taste is surprisingly good.

Just did a full detail on my truck. First cleaning since the trip to the OR coast. It was naaaaaasty. Sand in every corner of the cab.

This was some of the sand that was in my truck box from all the gear. A6D1EF33-DBD5-431A-82B0-6C90452CFA10.jpg

That blowing wind on the beach carries so much sand! Experienced the same thing on past trips, a full sand box in my cars.

Taking care of the honey-do list by building some more garden trellis and other yard work. Beer is essential to get it done right.;)

Quick wash before the rain tonight and the kids like the unwaxed level of shine.

What traction boards are those? I think I want to get a set prior to the beach trip later this summer.

They are the Maxsa ones from Amazon. Haven’t tried them out yet, but glad to have ‘em. They were my Secret Santa gift last year.

Son went to a birthday party at the local rope course today. I was worried he may have an issue once he was up there... Nah, a total monkey!

Nice! Thinking I might get a set off Amazon during Prime day. Can’t seem to justify $300 for a set from the major brands when I am not a major off roader. Want a set for beach trips and winter for the snow over an inch we get here every five years.

Yeah, it was really neat. Has three levels of increasing difficulty plus high three zip lines. They have two lower zip lines for the kids so they don't miss out. I need to lose about 10 lbs to be comfortably under the weight limit for the harnesses but it's a goal.

They also have mini golf and laser tag and just built axe throwing lanes.

That’s good. It is getting more hit and miss around here. Which I guess is to be expected given the vax rates and rule relaxing. Still sucks when you’ve got one in the fam that cannot get the vax.

I'm right there with you. We try and balance it with safety (relative by event) and mental health. My oldest struggles with the lack of social interactions and his friends' families aren't capable of making online work well.

We kept him home for the remainder of the school year. It's been a fight to motivate him.

Thankfully our kids' school has been in-person down here in Cali all year. I can count on one hand the amount of e-mails about kids testing positive in the school (high school included). They had plans in place, and if a kid/teacher tested positive they could switch that whole class to distance.

My wife being a nurse didn't have an issue with it either. And she works as the vaccine coordinator down here.

I was having this conversation with my neighbor yesterday (he doesn't have kids). My 9 year old is very involved in taekwondo and our studio never closed down. Went online last March and it was opened back up limited in June (following all the rules). It was rough not being in school for basically a year, but he still got a ton of that personal interaction kids crave. Also, he never stopped doing anything outdoors with his friends. If we did not have the TKD outlet for him, I think he really would have struggled as well. And, I totally get the hard to motivate... outside of TKD and Fortnite there really isn't much that gets him excited right now.

We went back to school in early April and it has been good for both my kids. Schooling from home worked, but they both missed their friends. Even my son who’s motivated by nothing wanted to get back in class.

We have elderly family members close by and were very cautious. My daughter really struggled seeing some of her friends forming “closed groups” during the peak of Covid and getting to play together. Unfortunately those bonds carried over once school started and she found herself left out. Been fun untangling that mental mess. She’s too young to be following her parents down the “people are azzhats” philosophy but such is life.

It will be interesting to see how the kids remember the past twelve months when they are grown.

Dude, you are lucky. My kids have been in school for maybe 8 weeks and we get about one email a week from the high school about someone being exposed. Glad your situation was better.

Fortnite…ugh, don’t get me started. My son plays that a ton.
