Checking in while making a town run. Got this soaking until a buddy shows up tomorrow. The doggo won't let me out of his sight, even worse if he knows the trailer is involved.

Great day checking out Milo McIver State Park for future camping and river days. Nice park with a small campground. Worth checking out if you are in the area. Had to take a photo for the Tundras in scenic places thread…

Took an off day for today. But cleaned the gym. Then started working on that Capt Morgan stash I have while watching the kids play outside.
Hope you guys are having a good weekend also.

Just did dinner in downtown Vancouver. The revitalization effort they did along the river is beautiful. Restaurants were packed and lots of people out enjoying the Sun. Felt great to get it and act normal.

I’m already in bed. Need to be rested for tomorrow.

Well, I think the Toyota battery bit me this morning. Had to jump my truck when I got off work this morning.
Not bad for 4 years I guess, I've heard of them only lasting a year or two.

I sure hope it's not the alternator, I put a meter on the battery when I got home. Truck running, volts were only 13.5. Truck off for 10 hours now and battery disconnected, 12.8 volts.

Worth mentioning the battery needle was jumping around a little on my way home. Also, after I disconnected the battery this morning the voltage was 13.2 on the battery.

Anyone replaced their factory battery yet?

Sorry to hear that @NWPirate, although 4 years seems pretty good. Hope it's nothing more serious.

Question for those local to PDX. I'm pretty easy with most things, but can be a snob when it comes to music listening. Has anyone found a good installer around here who you trust, knows Tundras decently well, can source components, and isn't too big of a rip? Appreciate any suggestions.

I'm near Tualatin/Tigard/Lake O area but willing to drive around PDX as needed.

My 11 Tacoma lasted less then a year. My 15 Tundra lasted about two and died on the alignment rack at Les Schwab...to be fair I suspected it before I went there.

So yes. Multiple Toyota batteries replaced. None replaced with stock.

Have them load test it. That’s probably where it will show it failed.

Decided to go on a spontaneous trip down to the Wildlife Safari in Wilson. That’s the most miles I have put on the truck in a single day probably since I have had it. Even had to break off some people with Beast mode. Let’s just say there’s a few Subaru’s that will think twice before overtaking a Tundra...your welcome haha.

Anyway it’s a pretty cool place. 3hr drive at 75-80 to drive 7mph for about 2 hours. Then same return trip.

last one was just some Yota’s out in the wild...and a freaking minivan that was blocking our way.

My Tacoma gave me none. Started just fine going to the gym. 2hrs later nothing.

my Tundra just randomly had a slow start. Like it cranked for a couple seconds longer. Them leaving it in accessory while on the rack dudnt do it any favors.
It”may” show close to full voltage...but doesn’t have the capacity to crank the starter. Any auto place can tell you if you have a bad cell.

kinda unrelated my buddy has a TRD off road rav4 and he already has battery problems. They charged his over night and it’s been good so far.

Crazy how quick those batteries went.
Appreciate it, I'll get it load tested at Autozone Tuesday when I get off nights. Get to drive mama's 1G Sequoia in the meantime!

My battery died in January (it’s a 2019) and I had to replace it. I’ve been fighting with Toyota Care to see if they will replace it under the 2 year warranty. So far just getting the run round. Amazing what they ask for over and over. Still no answer, just the repeat requests for the same info. Now it has become a mission to see if they will do anything.

    Still in boxes
I'm slowly gathering parts to do a major overhaul later this year.
UCA's, LCA's, LBJ's, tie rods, sway bar links, diff drop, possibly new axles, wheels and tires.

They is a local Vancouver WA guy who does good work for the PNW Tundras group on Facebook. Works out of his truck. Does stereos, lights, heated seats. He did my stereo and heated seats. Thad Martin. I know he gets booked up really quick though.

    Yeah, that was my thought.
    17 years old, 145k miles.
Did you do extended sway bar links and bump stops on the 4R?

The kit did come with adjustable sway bar end links. I don’t believe it has bump stops with that kit.

That’s on the list for later this summer when my girls are out of school. Been a few years since we were there.

I remember last time the person at the auto entrance repeated three times, “Don’t stop in the rhino pen, just keep going.” Of course the car in front of us decides to stop and linger a few times in the rhino pen. I was secretly waiting for the rhino to charge and see what it would have done to the sedan…

Since your tearing the front all the way down that part shouldn’t be too bad.

I think the biggest PITA for me was figuring out which way to mount the rear shocks. The 4R lower mount is offset. I couldn’t figure it out to save my life. One of my buddies said I think it goes this way. I said screw it let’s try that. Turns out he was right. Which is good because those shocks didn’t want to just slide in.

Dang it! We didn’t see any rhino’s. The bear was also not out. The baby cheetahs were pretty cool.
At the end we were watching the flamingos. Then a fight broke out between two of them. Couple seconds later two other ones were fighting.

It was definitely a cool place. The kids loved it and so did the wife. She has a bunch more pictures.
